Last week, Cleary’s Notebook News (CNBNews) received notice from Nextdoor Neighbor, the neighborhood‑based social media platform, that our account had been banned. The stated reason: three short snippets of press releases we posted allegedly violated their guidelines.
We immediately appealed. On Saturday, July 25, 2026, Nextdoor issued its final decision:
“Appeal not approved: Account indefinitely suspended.”
No explanation. No citation of a specific rule. No opportunity for correction. Just a permanent ban.
Local Reviewers With the Power to Silence You
Nextdoor relies on local “Reviewers” — ordinary users granted extraordinary authority — to censor posts, remove publishers, and suspend accounts. Because Nextdoor is a privately owned company, it has the legal right to remove anyone it chooses. But the way this ban was handled raises legitimate concerns about bias, personal grudges, and selective enforcement.

On the morning of July 20, 2026, at approximately 8:37 a.m., Gloucester Township Police responded to a report of a suspicious person checking vehicle door handles in a residential neighborhood.
Thanks to the vigilance of a resident who recognized the suspicious behavior and immediately contacted police, officers arrived within minutes and located the suspect as she exited an unlocked vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody, and property stolen from the vehicle was recovered and returned to its rightful owner.
Legislation to Strengthen Global Public Health Collaboration Signed into Law
Legislation authorizing New Jersey’s Department of Health (NJDOH) to establish partnerships in international public health was signed into law on Wednesday. Bill A4075 was sponsored by Assembly members Sterley Stanley, Carol Murphy, and Margie Donlon.
The legislation authorizes the NJDOH to take steps to seek participation in the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network, the WHO’s international collaboration of public health agencies, laboratories, academic institutions, and response organizations that work together to detect, verify, and respond to disease outbreaks and public health emergencies. Participation in the network will strengthen the State’s ability to monitor outbreaks, share information, improve workforce training, and coordinate preparedness efforts with public health partners around the world.

Philadelphia Police officers from the 12th District responded to the 1000 block of South Ithan Street on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at approximately 10:15 p.m. following reports of a person with a gun. Upon arrival, officers located 43-year-old MD Mahfuzul Haque of 77XX Fayette Street, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of the head. Police transported Mr. Haque to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased at 9:28pm.

I shall continue to voice my opinions until the day I stop breathing. For many years I have been involved in our community. First as a Concern Citizen then as your Mayor. I am presently very concerned with the direction our beloved city is heading.
There are more businesses leaving out town than there are coming into Gloucester City. Over the last several years, we have gone from a proud hard-working, blue-collar, middle-income community to a none-working low income town.
Who can we blame for this?

Camden Man Convicted of Years-Long Sexual Abuse of Two Children
A jury has convicted a Camden man for sexually abusing two children over the course of nearly a decade, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. Miguel A. Mota, 41, was found guilty on July 21, 2026, of four counts of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault.
He was also convicted of three counts of second-degree Sexual Assault, three counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of third-degree Aggravated Sexual Contact, one count of third-degree Terroristic Threats, and one count of fourth-degree Criminal Sexual Contact. The verdict was returned after a four-week jury trial in Camden County Superior Court.
DNREC Seeks Volunteers for 2026 Delaware Coastal Cleanup
Volunteer registration is now open for the 39th annual Delaware Coastal Cleanup, set for Saturday, Sept. 19, at more than 40 sites statewide. Hosted by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, this popular annual event welcomes participants who turn out to help maintain the state’s beaches, coastline and waterways from 9 a.m. to noon. Individuals as well as groups can sign up at the de.gov/coastalcleanup webpage now through Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 4:30 p.m.
Each year, the Delaware Coastal Cleanup draws hundreds of volunteers who collect litter, debris and recyclables from shorelines and natural areas. The event directly supports DNREC’s mission to provide quality outdoor recreation experiences while protecting public health and the environment.
