DNREC to Host Introduction to Living Shorelines Training

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control will host a two-day training event Tuesday Sept. 22 and Wednesday Sept. 23 for anyone interested in an introduction to the development process and components of living shorelines in Delaware. Presented in conjunction with the Delaware Living Shorelines Committee, the in-person training event will be held at the DNREC Field Office on Pilottown Road in Lewes, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and concluding at 4 p.m. each day.

The training focuses on the ecology behind living shorelines and implementing projects based on specific goals. On day one of the training, participants will learn about the causes and kinds of shoreline issues, define the types of living shoreline solutions, and become acquainted with the plants and animals comprising and living in shoreline habitats. Day two of the training will span techniques and applications, an introduction to living shoreline materials, designing for specific goals and a review of project permitting.

Camden Man Arrested After K9 Finds Key Evidence

Camden County, NJ – A Camden man has been arrested and charged for seeking sexually explicit photos from a 7-year-old girl after chatting on a popular social media application, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay.

Elmer Lao, 36, was charged with 2nd-degree Attempted Manufacturing of Child Sexual Abuse Material and 3rd-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

EPA Proposes Arsenic Cleanup at Vineland Chemical Site

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing an interim cleanup plan to address arsenic contamination remaining beneath the surface at the Vineland Chemical Superfund site in Vineland, New Jersey. The proposed plan focuses on arsenic-contaminated saturated soil, which is soil below the groundwater table, that continues to act as a source of contamination to groundwater, sediment, and nearby floodplain areas.

“To protect human health and the environment, EPA is taking an important step to keep arsenic from spreading,” said EPA Regional Administrator Michael Martucci. “EPA’s proposed plan targets a remaining source of arsenic contamination at the Vineland Chemical site and builds on years of cleanup work already completed.”

Suspects for Multiple Vehicle Vandalism in the 35th District

The PPD Northwest Detective Division is attempting to identify the individuals responsible for this vehilce vandalism.

On July 28, 2026, at 4:15am, on the 4800 block of N. 12th St unknown males broke windows on 16 different vehicles that were parked on the east side of the block. At approximately 4:15am on Tuesday, July 28th, an unknown vehicle, possibly a black Honda sedan, was seen driving north bound on the 4800 block of 12th St Surveillance cameras capture an unknown male leaning out of the passenger side of the Honda and this male is breaking the vehicle windows of all the cars parked on the east side of the street (16 cars total). The vehicle was followed on city cameras but last seen driving south bound on 5000 Camac St.

New Jersey Blood Services’ Annual “Blood For A Brew” Campaign Returns

New Jersey Blood Services (NJBS) is kicking off its fifth annual “Blood for a Brew” campaign to encourage blood donations during the critical summer months. Expanded this year to include local coffee shops in addition to breweries, the campaign offers everyone who comes to donate at a NJBS donor center or mobile blood drive from August 1 through August 31 a voucher redeemable for a free beverage at a participating establishment.
