Legislation sponsored by Assemblywoman Andrea Katz that addresses the growing youth mental health crisis and strengthens protections for minors online was signed into law by Governor Mikie Sherrill today. The three-bill package strengthens online privacy protections for minors, establishes a statewide Social Media Research Center, and advances research into strategies to reduce harmful and addictive online behaviors among young users.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control will close the Griffith Lake boat ramp in Milford for the foreseeable future starting Monday, Aug. 17. The ramp and adjacent parking lot will remain closed during reconstruction of the spillway at Griffith Lake Dam under the direction of the DNREC Dam Safety Program. The project is expected to be completed by the end of December 2027.
Anglers are encouraged by the DNREC Fisheries Section to utilize the Hearns Pond boat ramp or Blairs Pond boat ramp which are the nearest alternatives for fishing in the Milford area.
The PPD Northwest Detective Division is attempting to identify the individual responsible for this commercial burglary.
On August 9, 2026, at approximately 2:30AM, at 6324 Stenton Ave an unknown male was observed breaking in and burglarizing the Citizens Bank at that location. Surveillance cameras from the bank show a black male wearing a black mask, hoodie, jacket, pants, shoes, and a black bookbag with “ENON Tabernacle Baptist Church” emblem break a door window using a red brick to enter the bank. While inside the male took several blank checks. The male was last seen walking north bound away from Stenton Ave toward Tulpehocken St. This offender is also a suspect of a commercial burglary at the same location and wearing all black but with a white partial mask that occurred on August 5, 2026.

The Urban Development Action Grant program was introduced to Gloucester City residents in 1984. People living near the marine terminal at the time were against the idea from the very start. Several public meetings hosted by the mayor and council were held beginning in 1984. At those meetings, residents spoke about why they were against the expansion of that facility. At the time the Holt Family was just beginning to build their monstrous facility.

That program was promoted in 1978 by President Jimmy Carter. The purpose was to help distressed cities attract private investment, create jobs, and redevelop blighted industrial or commercial areas. UDAGs were awarded competitively and required substantial private‑sector participation. HUD’s regulations describe the program’s core mission as assisting cities facing severe economic distress by stimulating economic activity needed for recovery.
