Philadelphia Police Investigating Double Homicide

The following information is preliminary and subject to change. Updates will be shared as they become available.

The Homicide Unit is investigating a double homicide by shooting that occurred in the 22nd District on the 2300 block of North 18th Street at approximately 5:31 p.m. An adult female and an adult male were transported by police to Temple University Hospital, where they were both pronounced deceased at 5:54 p.m. The scene is being held, and a firearm was recovered at the location. The investigation is ongoing with the Homicide Unit. The motive is unknown at this time.

Lawnside Public School will be filled with music for two dates — the Jazz Show on Saturday, Sept. 26 and the Sacred Concert on Sunday, Sept. 27. Singers from Mt. Zion United Methodist and Bethany Baptist churches will join the Rowan University Concert Choir presenting sacred music.

Coast Guard Rescues Injured Hiker

ASTORIA, Ore. —  A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew from Air Station North Bend assisted with the evacuation of an injured hiker from a lava field near North Sister in the Three Sisters Wilderness, Saturday, Sept 5.
