Philadelphia Police Investigate Shooting

 The Philadelphia Police Department’s Shooting Investigation Group is actively investigating a shooting that occurred on Monday evening in the city’s 39th Police District.

On June 8, 2026, at approximately 7:55 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 22nd Street and Lehigh Avenue. Shortly thereafter, an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds was transported via a private vehicle to Temple University Hospital; his condition is currently unknown.

At this time, no arrests have been made, and no motives have been established. 

This information is preliminary and subject to change as the investigation develops. Updates will be shared as they become available.

NJ Joins Lawsuit Against Trump Admin. Over Total Energies Offshore Wind Deal

New Jersey joined several states in a federal lawsuit challenging the Trump administration over the Department of the Interior’s $1 billion buyout of TotalEnergies’ offshore wind lease back in March of this year. 

Other states in the lawsuit include New York, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The seven attorneys general cited that the deal violates the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act on several fronts.

The lease buyout in March led TotalEnergies to abandon its U.S. offshore wind projects, including Attentive Energy Two located in the NY/NJ Bight. Attentive Energy was set to provide 1,342 megawatts (MW) to New Jersey, powering 650,000 homes and generating $3 billion in economic benefits.

Fundraiser for AC Police Sgt. Ivanov and Family

Sergeant Ivanov’s recovery fund covers medical costs, childcare, and family stability needs

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (CNBNews)(June 9, 2026)–The Atlantic City Police Department Union released the following statement regarding Police Sgt. Christian Ivanov who was critically injured after being shot in the line of duty. A GoFund Me page that has been published and those who worked with him or knew him are asking the public to donate to it. The money raised will be used towards his medical costs, for childcare, and family stability needs.

New Jersey Symphony Makes Rowan Debut

(GLASSBORO, NJ) – The Marie Rader Series is thrilled to launch its 2026-27 season, entitled “Life & Liberty,” with the New Jersey Symphony’s Rowan University debut

Geared toward audiences ages 12 and up, the New Jersey Symphony’s July 22nd program provides an educational sampling of chamber music masterworks from four distinct composers, including Felix Mendelssohn, Antonín Dvořák, Florence Price and Jessie Montgomery, in honor of America’s 250th birthday. Four string musicians from  this world-class orchestra with local roots will be joined by Rowan University faculty and alumni as special guests.

The 2026-27 Marie Rader Series season will complement the nation-wide commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence through a range of programs for multi-generational audiences. With an emphasis on singular African American composers, interpreters, choreographers and storytellers, this season weaves together a year-long arts experience like no other, and invites audiences to reflect on how our shared histories can help lead us toward envisioning a shared future.

NOAA Fisheries announces the July-September 2026 schedule for free workshops held in locations across the Atlantic and Gulf of America regions.

These workshops are required for certain fishermen and dealers.

Atlantic Shark Identification Workshop

This workshop is mandatory for all Atlantic shark dealers who have not already received a valid workshop certificate or whose certificate is expiring prior to the next permit renewal. Atlantic shark dealers may not receive, purchase, trade, or barter for Atlantic sharks unless a valid Atlantic Shark Identification Workshop dealer certificate is on the premises of each business location listed under the shark dealer permit where sharks are first received.

Fatal Shooting in the 15th District

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday evening in the city’s 15th Police District.

On June 7, 2026, at approximately 4:58 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire on the highway along the 5198 block of Princeton Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medic 47 personnel pronounced the victim deceased on location at 5:07 p.m.

Rowan Wins 2025-26 NJAC Cup

Rowan University Athletics captured the NJAC Cup for 2025-26, marking the sixth year in a row and eighth time since the award’s inception that the Profs have been the recipient. The honor was announced at the annual NJAC Awards Brunch on Sunday at the Hyatt Regency in Princeton. Rowan men’s soccer standout Johnny Troiano was named the 2025-26 NJAC Male Athlete of the Year, while the conference also recognized this year’s champions and major award winners. 

Rowan claimed the 2025-26 Cup with a winning percentage of .905, the highest mark in the conference The Profs captured nine NJAC team championships and two regular season conference titles. Men’s indoor track and field claimed an NCAA team championship for the 12th national title in school history while Rowan became the 64th NJAC program in history to win a national title. The depth of Rowan’s national success extended further, with five individual national champions and four national runners-up, men’s outdoor track and field finishing as team runner-up at the NCAA Championships, baseball placing fourth at the NCAA Division III World Series, and softball placing sixth at the NCAA Division III World Series.

Police Investigating Shooting at a local Hotel

The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating an early-morning shooting that occurred inside a hotel room, which left one man injured and a woman in custody.

On Sunday, June 7, 2026, at approximately 10:20 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting at a hotel located on the 200 block of South Christopher Columbus Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers encountered a 25-year-old female in the lobby who identified herself as the shooter and surrendered her firearm to police. She was taken into custody at the scene.
