McCoach, Chiesa Help #6 Rowan Baseball Rally for 9-7 Win over Haverford

GLASSBORO, NJ – Evan McCoach hit a two-run triple for the gamewinner and Brett Chiesa drove in two runs as #6 Rowan rallied late to overtake Haverford, 9-7, in non-league baseball action today. The victory extends the Profs’ winning streak to six and their overall record to 22-3.

Elaina Corson scored five goals and became the school’s all-time leading goal scorer as #16 Rowan rolled to a 21-0 win over Ramapo in an NJAC women’s lacrosse matchup. Madison Rothwein had four goals and posted a school-record 16 draw controls as Rowan (11-2; 2-0 NJAC) extended its winning streak to eight games.
Corson (Hainesport, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional) made history early in the second quarter with her third goal of the game, which was the 251st of her career, to break the mark of 250 goals that was set by All-American Becca Wood from 2012 to 2015. Finishing with five in the game, Corson now has 253 goals in her career.

Elaina Corson and Madison Rothwein combined for 11 goals, including eight in the second half, as #16 Rowan fought back to earn a 16-9 win over Stockton in the NJAC women’s lacrosse opener for the Profs. Rowan (10-2; 1-0 NJAC) has now won seven straight.
Corson finished with six goals and Rothwein matched her season-high with five, while adding two assists. Trish Gillen had two goals on the day while Amelia Govern matched her career-high with two assists.

Madison Rothwein scored five goals and Fiona Lockhart added four as #15 Rowan defeated Catholic, 13-9, in a women’s lacrosse matchup. The Profs run their winning streak to five games while improving to 8-2 on the year.
It was a career-high in goals for Rothwein, while Lockhart matched her personal best with the total, while adding an assist. Alexis Lowry was the only other Prof with multiple goals in the win. Kylie Durboraw made nine saves for Rowan as the teams were deadlocked with 18 shots on goal apiece.
Although Catholic (5-5) took an early 2-0 lead, Rothwein got the Profs on the board just two minutes later and Lowry scored the tying goal before the end of the first quarter.

Rowan women’s lacrosse players Elaina Corson and Madison Rothwein, and men’s track athlete Damitrius Hester have earned weekly honors as given by the NJAC.
Corson (Hainesport, NJ/Rancocast Valley Regional) was named the NJAC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this year as she totaled 14 goals, three assists, four ground balls, four draw controls and five caused turnovers in the #19 Profs’ two wins on their Spring Break trip to Tennessee. The senior attacker scored a season-high nine goals and added two assists in the 18-5 win at Sewanee. She followed that with five goals and one assist in the 17-12 win at Rhodes
Corson currently tops Rowan in scoring with 40 goals and 11 assists.

The Rowan Men’s Track & Field Team took home the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship with a total of 76 points and featured a pair of individual winners on Saturday to help the Profs secure its first-ever national indoor title. The two-day meet was held at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Rowan’s Madison Rothwein (Mt Royal, NJ/Kingsway Regional) has been named the IWLCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in the #23 Profs’ two wins last week.
The sophomore midfielder delivered a dominant two-way performance during a 2–0 week for #23 Rowan, which was highlighted by a 13-11 road win over #14 Stevens. Across the two contests, Rothwein recorded 12 draw controls, five caused turnovers, and 10 ground balls, playing a key role in controlling possession for the Profs on both ends of the field.

Rowan’s Brayden Davis, Kyle Lamanteer and Madison Rothwein were honored in their respective sports as NJAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 8. It marks the first NJAC honors of the year for all three Profs.
Davis (Chatsworth, NJ/Seneca Tabernacle) was named the Baseball Player of the Week as he had a superb start to the season, batting .769 (10-for-13) in #8 Rowan’s first three games. The junior totaled four runs, 10 RBI, five doubles and three home runs in the three wins.

Freshman Kyle Lamanteer hit two home runs and Brayden Davis added one in #8 Rowan’s 7-3 win over Vermont State Castleton, paving the way for a doubleheader sweep while the Profs captured the second game, 14-3, in seven innings. Rowan (3-0) hit a total of six home runs on the day in the rescheduled game played at Diamond Nation.
Davis went 7-for-8 at the plate on the day, with a total of five doubles in the two games. He also drove in four runs and scored two.
