Woodbury, NJ – Ramon Luis Acevedo, 40, of Paulsboro was arrested and charged by  complaint with first-degree murder, second-degree aggravated assault, and second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose after a shooting left one dead  and one injured this morning. 

According to documents filed in this case: 

The Paulsboro Police Department responded to a 911 call on Elizabeth Avenue  reporting an adult female with a gunshot wound to the head and a second victim who  had been shot and fled the residence. During the call, Acevedo identified himself and  stated that he had shot both victims. 

WOODBURY, N.J. – Nicholas Bounasis, 41, of the Sewell section of Mantua, pled  guilty to one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and one count of  second-degree distribution of child sexual abuse material before the Honorable  Kevin T. Smith on Monday. 

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in open court:  

Bounasis was arrested on June 27, 2024 following the execution of a search warrant  of his residence by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Unit.  During the search, detectives found devices belonging to Bounasis containing images of child sexual abuse and exploitation, and evidence that Bounasis had sent  those images to other individuals via the internet. Further investigation found Bounasis had sexually assaulted a child under the age of twelve. 

Woodbury, NJ – A Gloucester County Grand Jury has indicted Richard Bennett of  Washington Township on four counts of fourth-degree forgery Wednesday. 

The indictment alleges two counts of forgery in violation of NJSA 2C:21-1a(1) and two  counts in violation of NJSA 2C:21-1a(3). Each count carries a maximum penalty of 18  months in state prison. 

According to documents filed in this case: 

Bennett, who was a sitting Washington Township council member, mailed harassing  letters to two members of his local Board of Education in the name of another board  member.

The charges against Bennett are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed  innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Woodbury, NJ – A jury found Sykia Harper-Brown guilty of second-degree possession of  weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and  third-degree terroristic threats. She faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in state  prison on each of the weapons charges and a maximum of five years for the terroristic  threats charge. 

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in open court: 

Harper-Brown traveled from Pennsylvania to Monroe Township on Nov. 4, 2023, armed  with a 9mm handgun and a baseball bat. Prior to the incident, she exchanged heated  text and Facebook messages with the victim, her sister-in-law, including threats. Harper-Brown went to the victim’s residence, banged on the door, and demanded the  victim come to the door. While the victim’s fiancé called 911, Harper-Brown retreated to  her vehicle and fired the handgun into the air from the sidewalk. Officers later located a  shell casing in the area.
