A 30-day public comment period that falls during the holiday season and the lack of public hearings are among the concerns raised by fifty organizations fighting pipeline and infrastructure projects in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic in a letter they submitted to DEP Secretary John Quigley calling for more opportunities to comment on the 335-page draft report issued by the Wolf administration’s Pipeline Infrastructure Task Force.

U.S. Supreme Court to Review Texas Law to Shut Down Clinics

(November 16, 2015) – The U.S. Supreme Court, Friday, agreed to review a Texas law designed to shut down clinics that provide safe, legal abortion services. The case, Whole Woman’s Health v. Cole, was brought by Center for Reproductive Rights on behalf of a coalition of women’s healthcare providers to stop an anti-abortion law (HB2) that places medically unnecessary regulations on clinics in Texas that provide abortions.

United States Transferring Detainees from Guantánamo Bay to United Arab Emirates

The Department of Defense announced today the transfer of Ali Ahmad Muhammad al-Razihi, Khalid Abd-al-Jabbar Muhammad Uthman al-Qadasi, Adil Said al-Hajj Ubayd al-Busays, Sulayman Awad Bin Uqayl al-Nahdi, and Fahmi Salem Said al-Asani from the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay to the Government of the United Arab Emirates.
