Louisiana Prisoner Escape Captured in Williamstown

WOODBURY NJ (November 12, 2015)–Officers of the U.S. Marshal’s Service-Camden Division, and the Fugitive \"\"Investigations Unit of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, arrested Louisiana work release escapee Michael J. Massaro, age 38) at a Williamstown NJ residence.

Massaro was taken into custody without incident at a Greenbriar Dr. address on 11/9 after officers surrounded the residence and made contact with the occupants. He was charged with being a fugitive from justice, turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department and placed in the Salem County Jail without bail pending an extradition hearing to determine whether he will return to Louisiana voluntarily.

Two Men Admit Roles In Scheme To Extort Thousands Of Dollars From Hudson County Project

NEWARK, N.J. – Two men today admitted extorting thousands of dollars in corrupt payments in connection with arranging approvals to provide landfill materials for a Hudson County Improvement Authority (\”HCIA\”) project, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

Gerard Pica, 65, of Middletown, New Jersey, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Jose L. Linares to Count Four of an indictment charging him with conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right. James Castaldo, 60, of Beachwood, New Jersey, pleaded guilty before Judge Linares to Count One of the indictment charging him with conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right.
