MEMORIES OF GLOUCESTER CITY (NJ)–The building in the foreground is the Buena Vista Hotel. It once stood near the river at the intersection of King and Water Streets. If you look to the left of this building you will see the Mansion House as it appeared in it\’s hey day. When Billy Thompson, The Duke of Gloucester, came to town, after he married a Gloucester girl from Middlesex Street by the name of Sarah Sweeny, he leased the Buena Vista Hotel and started serving the famous planked Shad Dinners. After his lease was not renewed, he built his own, Thompson Hotel, on the River Front at the end of 3rd. Street.

Shipwreck survivor and author to speak at CGA memorial service

NEW LONDON, Conn. – On October 20, Dr. Peter Eident will address officer candidates at the Coast Guard Academy chapel to honor the eleven sailors who gave their lives on Oct. 20, 1978 when the Coast Guard Cutter Cuyahoga sank at the mouth of the Potomac River. The service will be at 10 a.m. and is open to the public and the media.

Eident was sailing aboard the Cuyahoga, an officer candidate training platform, as an officer candidate when the cutter collided with an Argentine coal freighter. At the time, the Cuyahoga mishap was the worse peace-time accident in Coast Guard history.

CNB Hunting/Fishing Delaware: New deer stands available to disabled hunters

on Old Furnace Wildlife Area in Sussex County

DOVER DELAWARE(Oct. 15, 2015) – Two new deer stands with access stairs instead of ladders on Old Furnace Wildlife Area near Seaford are available for use this season by firearm deer hunters with disabilities, DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announced today. The stands also feature wider dimensions and are placed along a level path close to an interior access road with handicap parking centrally located between the two stands.

Magnolia Man Arrested for Possession and Distribution of Child Pornography

(October 15, 2015)–Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Magnolia Police Chief John Evans reported a borough man was arrested this morning for the possession and distribution of child pornography.

Rudolph F. Kube, 80, was charged after detectives from the High Tech Crimes Unit of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office executed a search warrant at approximately 6 a.m. on Thursday at his Magnolia home. Detectives located several hard drives containing numerous images and videos of child pornography.

$\"Buckleuplogo\"$ Trenton, NJ – The Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey reminds homeowners and renters that with the heating season, comes fire dangers. The trade association for independent insurance agents, urges the public to take the time now to review fire safety tips with their families so they will be prepared in the event of a fire emergency. This also is a good time to make sure that your home is insured properly—before an incident occurs.

Insurers generally recommend that people insure their home for its full replacement cost, which means it is insured under a homeowners policy for 100 percent of the cost of repairing or rebuilding it at the time it becomes necessary. If the homeowner purchases a guaranteed replacement cost endorsement, the full amount would be received to rebuild regardless of inflation.

U.S. Marshals Selling More Rita Crundwell Assets

Washington – The U.S. Marshals are auctioning several hundred lots of horse show clothing and accessories and other items that belonged to Rita Crundwell, the former comptroller of Dixon, Illinois, who was convicted of fraud in 2012 for stealing $53.7 million from the city over two decades.

The auction will take place online Oct. 20 through Nov. 3 at www.txauction.com. Items of interest include a football and framed T-shirt signed by NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw and a Childeric English saddle with a water buffalo seat, which sells new for more than $4,000. Other items for sale include Harley Davidson apparel, various pairs of cowboy boots, Sean Ryan western hats, an ATV and mopeds. A future auction will be held to sell a large collection of horse show belt buckles and household items. These additional assets had been moved by Crundwell to various locations prior to her conviction.

Franklin Twp. Cop injured when vehicle hit by alleged drunk driver

FRANKLIN TWP. — A township police officer suffered multiple injuries and a motorist was charged with drunken driving and child endangerment following a two-car crash Friday night, authorities said.
