Bureau of Securities Obtains $6.7 Million in Full Restitution for Investors Defrauded by Former Monmouth County Fire Chief

NEWARK – Vincent P. Falci (\”Falci\”) of Middletown, his wife, Donna Falci, also of Middletown, and their son, Vincent N. Falci, of Wall Township, and various investment companies that Falci created and operated, must collectively disgorge and pay $6.7 million in full restitution to defrauded investors as the result of legal action brought by the New Jersey Bureau of Securities. Falci also was assessed $800,000 in civil penalties and permanently barred from working in the securities industry in New Jersey.

Deptford Police Officer Guilty in Fatal Shooting

 

Deptford Township NJ police officer James A. Stuart (DOB 11/25/83) was found guilty today (10/1) of murder and aggravated manslaughter in the 1/5/13 fatal shooting of 27-year-old friend David Compton in the defendant’s Oak Valley home in Deptford NJ.

At the request of the prosecution, Superior Court Judge Robert P. Becker revoked Stuart’s $250,000 bail and he was placed in jail pending a 12/18 sentencing on the two first-degree convictions. The murder count carries a sentence of 30 years to life in prison. Manslaughter penalties range from 10 to 30 years in prison.

NJ State Police: Body Found in the Ocean Identified

Our Facebook friends have come through again; this time on a sad mission. The woman whose body was found in the ocean on Tuesday afternoon near 57th Street in Ocean City has been identified. We posted two distinctive photos of her tattoos (now deleted) and very quickly our community gave us the info we needed to identify the victim and contact her family.

$14 Million Plan to Remove Pollutants from Sherwin-Williams Plant in Gibbsboro Announced

(New York, N.Y. – Sept. 30, 2015) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has finalized a plan to clean up contaminated soil from residential properties at the Sherwin-Williams/Hilliards Creek Superfund site in Gibbsboro and Voorhees, N.J. The site includes a former paint manufacturing plant and the waters of Hilliards Creek, which flow into Kirkwood Lake. The soil and the groundwater beneath the former paint manufacturing site are contaminated with lead, arsenic and volatile organic compounds. Sediment in and near Hilliards Creek are contaminated with lead and arsenic.

Investigation of Improper Access of Personal Info Contained in Secret Service Files Completed

The Department of Homeland Security Inspector General has completed its independent investigation into allegations that one or more Secret Service agents improperly accessed internal databases to look up the 2003 employment application of Congressman Jason Chaffetz, Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The Inspector General has confirmed that between March 24 and April 2, 2015, on approximately 60 different occasions, 45 Secret Service employees accessed Chaffetz’ sensitive personal information. The OIG concluded that only 4 of the 45 employees had an arguable legitimate need to access the information.
