TRENTON – Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman announced that a man was indicted today on charges including attempted murder for allegedly firing a handgun at a crowd at a party at a home in Woodbine last year. The man allegedly pointed the gun at two state troopers who responded to the gunfire, causing one of the troopers to fire at him. No one was hit by any of the gunfire. 

TRENTON – Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman today announced that a Salem County, N.J., man has been indicted on multiple counts of extortion and first-degree manufacturing child pornography for allegedly stalking underage girls on the Internet and blackmailing the victims to make them send him sexually explicit photos of themselves or expose themselves on a webcam. The indictment stems from an investigation by the Division of Criminal Justice and ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

TRENTON – Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman announced that a leader of a narcotics trafficking ring and a co-defendant pleaded guilty today for participating in an operation that used the U.S. Mail and other parcel delivery services to ship multiple kilograms of cocaine from California into New Jersey.

Hoffman announced that a Gloucester County man was sentenced today for recklessly causing an oil spill last year in Spring Lake and Mantua Creek in Washington Township by using a vacuum tank truck containing an industrial solvent to pump the water from his swimming pool and discharge it into a storm drain. The truck was used to transport a petroleum distillate called \”cutting oil,\” but the man said he believed it was empty.
