Obituary | Patrick R. Caridi of Magnolia

Born: June 23, 1925
Died: September 13, 2015

Patrick R. Caridi, on September 13, 2015, of Runnemede, formerly of Camden. Age 90.

Patrick was the youngest of 7 siblings. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Patrick proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a lifelong proprietor for local businesses in South Jersey, most recently the former Pete’s Cafe.

There will be a viewing from 9:15 to 10:15am on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.

Funeral Mass 11am at Holy Child Parish, St. Teresa’s RC Church, Runnemede.

Interment private at the request of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patrick’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.

Ann M. Korpan (nee Crowley), on September 12, 2015, of Runnemede. Age 84.

Beloved wife of the late Peter Korpan. Devoted mother of John (Jolene) of California and Robert of New Jersey. Loving grandmom of Grace Torok (Brian), Jeanette Luckmann (Michael), and Marissa Korpan. Dear sister of Patricia Kaminski, Karen O’Brien, James Crowley (Patricia), and Wilmer Crowley. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Ann worked as a librarian for the Runnemede Library, a volunteer tax assistant for AARP, and a kindergarten aide. She enjoyed genealogy and was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors Chapter #142.

Hudson County Man Sentenced To Prison For Role In Illegal Online Gambling Enterprise

NEWARK, N.J. – A Bayonne, New Jersey, man was sentenced today to 15 months in prison for conspiring with a criminal enterprise that engaged in illegal sports betting in New Jersey and elsewhere, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

Mark A. Sanzo, 57, previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi to an information charging him with one count of racketeering conspiracy. Judge Cecchi imposed the sentence today in Newark federal court.

Deputy Sheriff Dwight Maness succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained 11 months earlier after being ambushed while en route to a domestic disturbance at a home in Holiday Hills.

He and two other deputies had gone to the home in the 1300 block of Northeast Shore Drive after a friend of the subject\’s wife called to request a welfare check. The subject answered the door and stated he did not need any assistance. He invited the deputies into the home and then immediately opened fire on them with an AR-15 rifle.

JEER- Why close the perfectly good state prison in Camden City and then build a very costly new one only about a mile away? Sounds like someone has plans to make big money on the redevelopment of that land. It won\’t shock me to find out that some politicians would profit from this also, if you want the truth in politics, follow the money.

Gloucester City PD Participating in Operation Take Back

The Gloucester City Police Department will be participating in the DEA’s Operation Take Back on Saturday, September 26, 2015 between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Anyone having expired or unused prescription medication can drop it off at Police Headquarters at 313 Monmouth Street. The lobby will be open during that time and anyone can come in and deposit the medication in the secure drop box.
