Reminder for the week: Visitors to state wildlife, fishing
and boating areas urged to respect natural resources
DOVER (Aug. 28, 2015) – To achieve public compliance through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between Aug. 17-23 made 1,543 contacts with anglers, boaters and the general public, including 231 vessel boardings for boating safety and fishing regulation compliance checks. Officers responded to 86 complaints and issued 71 citations, one of which was related to the C&D Canal Conservation Area and associated recreational trail, where there is an increased Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police presence.

Deputy Sheriff Darren Goforth was shot and killed from ambush while pumping gas into his patrol car at a commercial gas station at the intersection of West Road and Telge Road, in Cypress.
Deputy Goforth was on patrol and had completed an assignment at the scene of a vehicle collision. He when to a local gas station to fuel his patrol car. As Deputy Goforth stood next to his patrol car filling it with fuel, a male subject walked up behind him, and fired multiple shots. After Deputy Goforth fell to the ground, the subject shot him several more times before fleeing the scene in a pickup truck.

The public’s right to know the outcome of a criminal probe of an alleged $245,000 pension fraud involving New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno will be debated next week in state appellate court.
New Jersey Watchdog is appealing a lower court’s decision not to release the findings of an investigation by the state attorney general’s Division of Criminal Justice. Oral arguments are scheduled to be heard next Wednesday at Rutgers Law School in Camden.

(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the ramp from Route 168 southbound to I-295 southbound will be closed this weekend as the Direct Connection project advances in Camden and Gloucester counties.
NJDOT contractor, Conti Enterprises, will close the ramp from Route 168 southbound to I-295 southbound starting Friday, August 28 at 9:00 p.m. until Monday, August 31 at 5:00 a.m. for pavement reconstruction.
The following detour will be in effect for those trying to access Route 168 westbound from I-295 northbound:
