Deputy Sheriff Del Daniels succumbed to injuries sustained 11 days earlier when the patrol SUV he was a passenger in left the roadway and overturned in a ditch on Highway 15-401, near McColl.

It is believed that the vehicle may have struck standing water in the roadway during a period of heavy rain. Deputy Daniels was transported to a hospital in Florence where he remained on life support until succumbing to his injuries.

Deputy Daniels had only served with the Marlboro County Sheriff\’s Office for one week when \"6a00d8341bf7d953ef01bb07cf3abd970d-120wi\"the crash occurred. He also served as a firefighter with the Bennettsville City Fire Department.

Michael E. Zank, of Mount Ephraim, Cinnaminson School Teacher, GHS Alumni Class of \’61

\"Micheal-Zank-1438355567\"Michael Edward Zank, Ph.D; \”Mike\” , a lifelong educator; of Mt. Ephraim, passed away suddenly on July 29, 2015. He was aged 72 years.

Born in Philadelphia and raised in Gloucester City, Mike graduated from Gloucester High School in 1961 and continued his education at Glassboro State College where he earned his BA and Masters Degree. Mike earned his PH. D from Nova University, Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1989. Mike worked for the Cinnaminson Board of Education at Cinnaminson High School for 44 years where he rose to the position of Principal and retired in 2009.

Cape May Coast Guard Sunset Parade Tuesday

CAPE MAY, N.J. – The Coast Guard is scheduled to host its third Sunset Parade of 2015 in honor of the Coast Guard\’s 225th birthday at Training Center Cape May, Tuesday at 7:40 p.m.

Sunset Parades are military displays of marching troops and the Coast Guard Recruit Precision Drill Team. More than 250 recruits will march in the parade and strike the National Ensign from the Parade Field at sunset.

Reminder for the week: Practice safe summer boating, including life jackets

 

DOVER (July 31, 2015) – To achieve public compliance through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between July 20-26 made 1,586 contacts with anglers, boaters and the general public, including 294 vessel boardings for boating safety and fishing regulation compliance checks. Officers responded to 81 complaints and issued 193 citations, one of which was related to the C&D Canal Conservation Area and associated recreational trail, where there is an increased Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police presence.

MEMPHIS TENNESSEE–Police Officer Sean Bolton was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop near the intersection of Cottonwood Road and Perkins Road at approximately 9:15 pm.

Officer Bolton was shot multiple times by one of the occupants of the vehicle, who then fled the scene and remains at large. A citizen used Officer Bolton\’s radio to call for assistance after he was shot.

Officer Bolton was transported to Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his wounds.

Officer Bolton was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He had served with the Memphis Police \"6a00d8341bf7d953ef01bb07cf3abd970d-120wi\"Department since October 2010.

A national transportation expert calls the proposed Lone Star Rail project between Austin and San Antonio a bust for taxpayers.

Carrying an initial price tag of $2 billion to $3 billion, the commuter line would take over existing Union Pacific tracks near Interstate 35 and shift freight onto new rails to the east.

Obituary: Richard S. Snyder, Sr. of Collingswood

Went to be with Jesus on August 1, 2015, of Collingswood, NJ. Age 67 years.

Beloved husband of 46 years to Karen J. Snyder (nee Kaye). Dear father of Carrie (Rob) Shourds of Haddon Twp., NJ, Valarie (Tim) McAteer, Jr. of Collingswood, NJ and Richard S. (Andrea) Snyder, Jr of Collingswood, NJ. He is also lovingly survived by 9 grandchildren: Alex, Jake and Carter Shourds; Nicholas, Sebastian and Gabriel Snyder; Hayden, Xander and Faith McAteer; step grandchildren, Reenie, Jessie and Timmy; his mother, Dorothy; brothers, Michael and Daniel and sister, Dorothea.

Richard was born on May 15, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA to Sterling and Dorothy Snyder. He graduated from Father Judge High School in 1967 and Philadelphia Community College in 1973. He was a retired employee of PECO/Exelon in 2004 and a retiree of Audubon High School in 2009.

Richard and his wife, Karen, made Collingswood their home for the last 33 years. He was very active for 20 years with Collingswood Little League baseball. He also volunteered his time keeping stats for the boys and girls soccer, basketball and softball games at Audubon High School. Richard enjoyed woodworking, gardening, buying tools for his kids to borrow and taking long walks hand in hand with Karen around Knight Park and on the beaches of Wildwood, NJ.

Visitation and Memorial Service are pending at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Richard Snyder to Collingswoood Little League, 924 Stokes Ave., Collingswood, NJ 08108.
