PHILADELPHIA, July 7, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The family of Dr. Elizabeth Karnicki, former college professor and advocate for seniors, asserted in a wrongful death complaint filed today that on May 8^th she was struck and killed by a tourist duck boat while crossing a busy intersection because the vehicle had \”huge blind spots\” that its careless and inattentive guide-operator failed to properly manage. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the Karnicki family by Saltz, Mongeluzzi, Barrett & Bendesky P.C., which successfully represented the families of the two Hungarian teenagers killed five years ago today in the duck boat disaster on the Delaware River in Philadelphia.

Beloved son of Joann and the late Walter Yates, Sr. Dear brother of Walter, Jr. \”Sonny\” (Wendy), Michael (Louise) and Lisa Shaw (Tom). Also survived by good friends, Michael Vitacolonna and Curtis Wood, many nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion, Timber.

Anthony proudly served in the United States Army, was a member of the Crescent Park VFW, and loved to spend his time hunting and fishing.

There will be a viewing from 8:15 to 10:15am on Friday morning at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.

Funeral Mass 11am at St. Joachim Parish, Annunciation BVM Church, 601 W. Browning Avenue, Bellmawr, NJ 08031.

Interment New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anthony’s name to the NJ Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 1119 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.

HARRISONBURG, VA—Two members of the Rider University baseball team have been selected to play in the Valley Baseball League All-Star game at James Madison University July 12.

Pitchers Nick Margevicius (North Royalton, Ohio/St. Ignatius) and Josh Sharik (Ewing, NJ/Plumstead Christian) have been selected to play in the prestigious game. Approximately 30 Major League Baseball scouts are expected to attend the event.

CBP Officers Capture Man Wanted for 12 Counts of Rape | U.S. Customs and Border Protection

WINTERHAVEN, Calif. —U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Andrade port of entry yesterday apprehended a 24-year-old male U.S. citizen with a no-bond felony warrant for 12 counts of rape.

The incident occurred shortly before 5 p.m., when Carlos Ivan Crispin entered the Andrade port on foot and presented a CBP officer with a U.S. birth certificate. The officer queried Crispin’s information in law enforcement databases and was alerted to an active felony warrant. Crispin was escorted to a secure location for further investigation.
