TRENTON – The 24th annual Governor\’s Surf Fishing Tournament, a popular competition for anglers young and old, will be held at Island Beach State Park on Sunday, May 17, Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Bob Martin announced today. 

The family-friendly tournament, which had long been an October staple but made a successful move to the spring last year, offers participants an excellent opportunity to engage in or learn more about the sport of surf fishing. The tournament runs from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

\”We saw a renewed enthusiasm for the Governor\’s Surf Fishing Tournament last spring and registration numbers for this year\’s competition are up,\” Commissioner Martin said. \”We look forward to a great day for anglers and families from New Jersey and neighboring states as we kick off the summer tourism season on our beautiful beaches.\”

This will be the third year I have written about this property located at the corner of Lane and Thompson Avenues, Gloucester City. As you can see from the most recent photo (s) taken on August 27^th the bushes/weeds are so overgrown they extend over the sidewalk blocking pedestrian traffic. 

Because of the condition of the property I complained on August 20 to Third Ward Council members Jay Brophy and Kellie Ferry, who live just a stone’s throw away from it. I mentioned to them about the landlord having a history of not cutting the grass and further stated I was upset that someone had to complain each year before the City took action against this landlord.

 

TRENTON – Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman announced that a man was indicted today for allegedly shooting a man and a woman outside a convenience store in Pleasantville in October 2014 because of an ongoing feud with the man. The two victims were wounded but survived the attack.

Maureen Perry (nee Holmes), on May 13, 2015, of Gloucester Twp., formerly of Northeast Phila. Age 62.
