Washington, DC (March 26, 2015)– Today, Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ01) voted in favor of a bipartisan health care bill that will protect and strengthen Medicare for senior citizens while preserving health benefits for countless children and families throughout South Jersey.

(TRENTON) March 27, 2015 – Senator Nilsa Cruz-Pérez (D-Camden/Gloucester) Stolen Valor Act was approved by the General Assembly yesterday. Bill S2704 would make the knowing misrepresentation of oneself as a veteran or member of the military for the purpose of obtaining money, property, or other benefit a crime of the third degree, with a mandatory minimum fine of $1,000.

\”It is deplorable that someone would impersonate a veteran to take advantage of goods and services provided to them,\” said Senator Cruz-Pérez. \”The men and women of the United States Armed Forces have already given us the greatest gift we could ask for – their commitment to defending our freedom at all costs.\”

Individuals wearing the uniform, any medal or insignia authorized for the use of members or veterans of the United Armed Forces or the organized militia would be subject to the fine, as would those making false statements regarding themselves as a recipient of any decoration or medal of the Armed Forces or organized militia.

 \”Putting on a uniform you didn’t earn for personal gain makes a mockery of every soldier who has ever served,\” Senator Cruz-Pérez added. 

The Stolen Valor Act was approved by the General Assembly by a unanimous vote.

Washington Township, NJ –For more than a decade, the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Kennedy University Hospital in Washington Township, NJ, has offered refreshments for families and games for youngsters to enjoy while at the hospital’s Emergency Department. In lieu of exchanging Christmas gifts, hospital Nursing management members pooled their resources to donate $1,000 to help support the Family Room, which is operated by the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey. Long-time Family Room volunteer Catherine Durante accepted the donation on March 25^th at a special celebration.

Beloved husband of 58 years of Dolores (nee Contino). Devoted father of Lisa Peterson (Larry) and Vinese Goldschmidt (Tim). Loving grandfather of Laurence, Matthew, Nicholas and Kelsey Peterson and Victoria and Vincent Goldschmidt. Dear brother of Clover Milaro (Alex) and the late Angelo Patrone. Also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mr. Patrone was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Teamsters Local 107 Philadelphia for 23 years, later went on to do home remodeling and then worked for Gitomer Management. He was an usher and longtime parishioner at Annunciation BVM Church.

There will be a viewing from 7 to 9pm Monday eve and 8:15 to 9:15am Tuesday morning at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.

Funeral Mass 10am Tuesday at St. Joachim Parish, Annunciation BVM Church, Bellmawr.
