Suddenly, On January 18, 2015. Loving and devoted Son of Kathleen Fitzpatrick of Gloucester City. Cherished brother of Adele \”Addie\” \"\"Robinson of Gloucester City. Beloved grandson of Marie R. (nee Cooper) Fitzpatrick of Gloucester City and the late Gerald \”Jerry\” Fitzpatrick, Jr. Dear nephew of Karen M. (Sharon) Fitzpatrick of Washington Township, Mary (Joe) Elliott of West Deptford, Anne (Gary) Harter of Gloucester City. Adored cousin ofSean Saunders (Kristie)DavidSaunders, Ian Harter and Ryan Harter. Survived by numerous extended family and friends.

Colin was a 2009 Graduate of Gloucester City High School and after graduation loved volunteering his time with all of the Gloucester City Youth Sports (Football and Baseball) especially. He lit up a room with his smile and sense of humor. Colin was proud to work as an Admissions Coordinator for Aide in Recovery in Florida.

Kenneth H. Pierce, Jr.; aged 49 years, of West Deptford, passed away suddenly on January 16, 2015.\"\"

LEGACY
Ken was an upbeat, funny guy with a serious side. He was born in Camden and raised in West Deptford. Ken graduated from West Deptford High School with the Class of 1983. He worked as a Truck Driver for Interstate Aerials in Paulsboro.

Away from his work, Ken’s passion was working on and racing his car. Spending time with his family creating fantastic memories and eating out at his favorite restaurants were what completed his life. Ken will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Massive fire burning at Edgewater apartment complex

 
EDGEWATER ’97 Firefighters were battling a massive blaze at an apartment complex on Russell Avenue late Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. The flames were reported around 4:30 p.m. at the Avalon Edgewater complex on Russell Avenue, according to police. Mutual aid fire crews were also called to assist. The dashcam footage of a Bridgeton traffic-stop-turned-police-shooting has been released following an Open Public Records Act request from the South Jersey Times. The video shows the fatal shooting of Jerame Reid by Bridgeton Police officers Braheme Days and Roger Worley after they spotted a gun in the glove compartment of the car. The use of deadly force is under investigation by the Cumberland County Prosecutor\’s Office.

Died: January 18, 2015

Mary L. Shearer-Schailey (nee Hicks), on January 18, 2015, of Nichols, SC, formerly of Bellmawr. Age 77.


Beloved wife of Frank. Devoted mother of Jamie M. McDaniels (William), James M. Shearer and Joseph M. Shearer (MaryLou). Loving grandmother of five and great grandmother of six. Sister of Bettyjo and Melinda. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing from 7 to 9pm Friday eve and 10 to 11am Saturday morning at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.

Funeral Service 11am Saturday at the funeral home.

Interment Woodbury Memorial Park, Woodbury.

Family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made in Mrs. Schailey’s memory to the Medical University of South Carolina Stroke Center, 171 Ashley Ave., Charleston, SC 29425.

Supreme Court Takes Up Push to Let Gay Couples Marry Nationwide

WASHINGTON (CN) – The U.S. Supreme Court agreed Friday to hold a hearing for four states that do not want to recognize same-sex marriages or grant licenses to such couples.
Though the justices broke gay-rights ground in June 2013 with United States v. Windsor, that case dealt only with a federal law that the court found was unconstitutional for defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
