Arraignment Nov. 24:Maybin Preliminary Hearing Held; Judge Rules Evidence Sufficient to Proceed

$\"6a00d8341bf7d953ef019afff9d462970d-320wi\"$ PHILADELPHIA PA (November 3, 2014)—Nathaniel Maybin Jr., of Philadelphia, was back in court $\"Unknown\"$ today for a preliminary hearing before Philadelphia Commonwealth Judge Craig M. Washington. Maybin was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly pummeled David Woods Sr., of Gloucester City with a hammer.

According to police on February 20, 2014 Maybin allegedly attacked Woods as he walked out of the Maple Deli at 49th and Lancaster in West Philadelphia. The mugging was captured on the store’s two video cameras. The videos show Woods leaving the store and walking back to his truck, which was parked in front of the building. He had just purchased some lottery tickets and used the ATM machine located inside the store. Maybin comes rushing from behind Woods and strikes him with the hammer on the side of his head. Woods is knocked out and falls to the ground, blood gushing out of his head. Even though Woods is unconscious, the suspect can be seen hitting his victim again and again with the hammer and kicking him in the back. Bernard Williams, a passenger in the truck, jumps out and goes after Maybin with a crowbar. Maybin runs away. Woods is rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania(HUP).

POSTAL INSPECTOR: Letter Carrier Who Dumped GOP Political Mailers Was Just Lazy

MADISON, Wis. — The Neenah mail carrier who dumped hundreds of GOP political mailers in an apartment complex Dumpster wasn’t politically motivated; the postal worker just didn’t feel like delivering the stacks of campaign advertisements, according to preliminary findings from the U.S. Postal Service Office of the Inspector General.

\”Based upon our investigation, this was nothing done toward a specific candidate or party. It looks like it was a decision made by the carrier, and it was not a good decision,\” to not deliver the campaign advertisements, Robert Rukes, special agent with the inspector general’s office in Chicago, told Wisconsin Reporter Monday.

Gov. Christie\’s Staff: We Don\’t Know Who Pays for Political Travels

While Chris Christie has been vocal during a 19-state campaign trip that ends today, his staff has little to say about who pays for the New Jersey governor’s extensive political travels.

Christie’s office claims it has no records, emails or correspondence concerning the trips, and that it is exempt from the rules that govern other state officials.

\”I understand that third parties did pay for some of the governor’s trips … however, our office has not been provided with any such documents,\” wrote Christie’s chief ethics officer, Heather Taylor, in a response to a request from New Jersey Watchdog.

NJ Upland Bird Small Game Season Opens Saturday, November 8

The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife reminds hunters that the 2014-15 small game seasons for pheasant, chukar and Hungarian partridge, bobwhite quail, ruffed grouse (south of Route 70) and woodcock (south of Route 70) will open at 8:00 AM this Saturday, November 8. Small game seasons for several other species have already opened. Hunters are reminded that quail hunting is limited to commercial and semi-wild shooting preserves and the Peaslee and Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs), as the wild quail hunting season remains closed.
