Obituary: Calogera \”Carrie\” Ackerle of Mt. Ephraim

(February 20, 1928 – September 25, 2013)

Calogera \”Carrie\” C. Ackerle (nee Santoro), on September 25, 2013 of Mt. Ephraim, formerly of Camden. Age 85.

Beloved wife of the late George Ackerle. Devoted mother of George P. Ackerle (Jamie). Loving grandmom of Annabelle and Penelope. Dear sister of Natalina Shuler and the late Gaetano Santoro. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Carrie was the owner of Ackerle’s Pastry Shop on Broadway in Camden for 45 years.

There will be visitation Monday morning from 10 to 11:30am at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.

Memorial Service Monday morning 11:30am.

Inurnment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Ackerle’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3 Eves Drive, Suite 310, Marlton, NJ 08053.

OCEAN CITY HOSTS THREE HUMANITARIAN EVENTS THIS WEEK

Thousands to Toast the Coast Nationwide Sept. 28

WILMINGTON, Del.  The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary is asking residents of the Delaware Valley to \”Toast the Coast\” on Sept. 28 in celebration of the 25th annual National Estuaries Day. The local organization is part of a network of 28 National Estuary Programs working to improve and restore the nation’s most important estuaries, which are vibrant coastal areas where rivers meet the sea.

 

\”The toast is a way for people all around the country to show their appreciation and support for our rivers and bays, by simply raising a glass,\” said Jennifer Adkins, executive director of the PDE. \”Whether it’s a glass of tap water or some other beverage, if it was made here in the tri-state area, chances are, it depends on clean water from our rivers and streams.\”

STATEMENT REGARDING THE ARREST OF REVEREND ROBERT L. BRENNAN

PHILADELPHIA PA–The Philadelphia Archdiocese released the following statement today regarding the arrest of Father Robert L. Brennan.

 

Father Robert L. Brennan was removed from active ministry in September 2005 following the Grand Jury report issued by the Philadelphia District Attorney. He has not been permitted to function as a priest anywhere since that time. A canonical process aimed at his laicization is in progress with the Holy See.

Eleanor J. Patrick, Catholic School Teacher and Music Instructor

Eleanor Patrick (nee Lupinacci), passed away on September 24, 2013 at the age of 79 at home, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Loving wife of the late Walter Patrick. Beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Edith Lupinacci (Pirocchi), sister of Rose Conley (Frank), Lillian Lupinacci and Joseph Lupinacci (Cathy). Dear aunt of Paul (Tonya), Robert (Lisa), and great aunt of Kaitlin, Nicholas, Dominic, Alex, and Zachary.

Eleanor dedicated her life as a Catholic school teacher and music instructor. Music, art and a deep religious faith were her life.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing Sunday evening from 6 to 8pm and Monday morning from 8:15am to 9:15am at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.

Funeral Mass Monday 10am at Holy Child Parish, St. Teresa’s RC Church, Runnemede.

Entombment St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Chews Landing.
