On September 23, 2013. Age 79. Of Gloucester City. Loving husband of 51 years to the late Mildred E. Serad (nee Burnett). Beloved father of Harry J. Serad, Stephen G. Serad and Catherine Grolock. Devoted grandfather of 7.

 

Harry was a 52 year member of Local # 472 / 172 : Heavy and General Laborers Union and was Shop Steward. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Gloucester City.

 

Relatives, friends and union members are kindly invited to attend his visitation on Monday from 6 to 8 pm at Lighthouse Baptist Church: 811 Market Street, Gloucester City, NJ 08030. Dr. Jim Doster will officiate service 8 pm in church. Cremation private. Family requests memorial donations in lieu of flowers to Lighthouse Baptist Church at the above address. PHILADELPHIA – Dr. Norman Werther, 73, of Ft. Washington, PA, was sentenced today to 25 years in prison for distribution of a controlled substance resulting in death and more than 300 counts stemming from his pill mill operation. A federal jury convicted Werther on June 11, 2013 of 184 counts of illegally distributing oxycodone, 116 counts of money laundering, six counts of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, and one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises.

 Werther was part of a multi-million dollar drug conspiracy involving illegal prescriptions, phony patients, and multiple drug trafficking organizations. At the time, Werther was a Montgomery County physician, running a physical therapy and rehabilitation practice in Willow Grove. He conspired with six separate groups of drug dealers. Werther was involved in the drug conspiracy between February 2009 and August 2011. The operation resulted in the illegal distribution of more than 700,000 pills containing oxycodone. At least one of the drug trafficking organizations working with Werther trafficked pills valued at more than $5 million that Werther illegally prescribed.

The Gloucester Township Police Department wants parents to be aware that the abuse of Prescription Drugs is an epidemic throughout the state and many other states. Starting this year, the 4^th grade students in Gloucester Township will receive an age appropriate lesson on the dangers of prescription pill abuse as part of our Society Improvement Program also known as \”SIP\”. This is of course in addition to the many other police-community programs offered by the Gloucester Township Police Department.  GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP NJ–On Tuesday, September 24th, 2013 at 8:10 PM, officers from the Gloucester Township Police Department responded to the Black Horse Pike (State Highway 168) and Landing Road on a report of a pedestrian motor vehicle crash.

Upon their arrival they observed 32 year old Joseph Wilson of Pilesgrove laying on the side of the road.

As the result of a Mexican federal prosecutor’s appeal, the prison sentence Juan Luis Bautista (DOB 3/17/81) received in 2011 for causing first-degree vehicular injuries to 21-year-old Christina Applegate in a 2003 Franklin Township NJ drunk driving collision has been increased.

 

Applegate, who was married and living in Franklin Township, has remained in a coma since the collision. She is in the care of her father, who has moved to another state.
