Edwin retired from Harrah’s Casino as a Gaming Supervisor.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing Thursday evening from 7 to 9pm and Friday morning from 9:15 to 10:15am at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.

Funeral Mass 11am at Infant Jesus Parish, St. John Vianney RC Church, 2901 Good Intent Road, Deptford, NJ 08096.

Interment New St. Mary’s, Bellmawr.

Mrs. Alice Dick, Gloucester City Softball Coach, Sportsmen\’s AC Ladies Auxiliary Member

On August 30, 2013, (nee Megee), a lifelong resident of Gloucester City, NJ, age 68. She $\"Images-3\"$ was the beloved wife, for 52 years, of Richard Dick, loving mother of Richard (Susan) and Alyson Dick, and dear sister of James Megee (Elaine). She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Timothy, Richard, Nathan, Adam (Ashley), Tabitha, Steven, Nicholas and Emma and great grandchildren Timothy, Andrew, Audrina and Aiden.

The loves of Alice’s life were her home, her grandchildren and the Casinos and also enjoyed bowling. She coached for GloucesterCity Softball for 12 years and was a member of the Sportmen’s AC Ladies Auxiliary. Alice’s family also wanted to mention and are very grateful to the Infusion Nurses at Cooper Medical Center, in Voorhees for the wonderful, loving care they gave Alice.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet Thursday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the ETHERINGTON-CRERAN FUNERAL HOME, 700 POWELL ST., GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ. Alice’s Funeral Service will be held 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. NEWARK — When he was first elected mayor of Newark, the tale of T-Bone was a staple of Cory Booker’s speeches.

\”I said hello to this guy and I’ll never forget he leaped off the steps where he was standing and looked at me and threatened my life,\” Booker said during a 2007 speech at the New School in New York.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT! A WHITE-TAIL DEER TOOK A STROLL TODAY ALONG HUNTER STREET

GLOUCESTER CITY NJ–Jo Yourison, of Hunter Street took the above photo earlier today. She writes, \”This morning while having coffee on our porch this deer decided to show up. It hung around the 700 block of Hunter Street for a while. Then traveled around to 8th & Division Streets where he/she jumped into the Methodist Church yard and relaxed a bit before taking off across Broadway.\”

We have had serveral reports about the two baby fawns living in the woods behind the homes on Sherwood Avenue. Somedays, early in the morning, while driving on Market Street heading towards Route 130, you can see them feeding in the open. So be careful of the deer when you are driving on that stretch of road. And with this latest sighting, it appears too we should also be alert for deer when driving in the inner-city of Gloucester City.

Robert A. Merritt \”Bob\” on August 30, 2013, of Glendora formerly of Barrington. Age 77.

Beloved husband of the late Margaret \”Peggie\”. Devoted father of Robert, Greg (Rose), Dawn Kayser (Gary), Susan Cross (Don), Gina Yatzus (Stephen) and Dana Yost (Bill). Dear brother of Jack and the late Elaine Coigne and Lucille Watson. Loving grandfather of Sara, Patrick, Lauren, Donny, Corie, Andrew, Colin, Jared, Mya, and Samantha. Dear son of the late Willis Merritt and Edna (nee Clark). Also survived by his beloved dog Daisy.

Bob was a former coach for Gloucester Township Stallions football team. He served in the New Jersey National Guard and was a former employee of the Kappa Board Inc, Bellmawr. Bob was a avid fishermen, Eagles fan, and enjoyed wood working and working with his hands.

Think \”surfing,\” and Oahu and Malibu come more quickly to mind than New York City. Yet just 30 miles or so from midtown Manhattan, in Queens’s Far Rockaway neighborhood, urban wave riders tame six- to nine-foot swells and have given birth to a vibrant surfing community boasting boutique shops, popular competitions, and even a film festival. Thomas Wolfe famously described New York as a \”magnificent jewel\” in a perfect setting of earth and stars and—he didn’t forget to add—sea. That’s a depiction that the city’s thousands of surfers would agree with.

Distracted Driving Found To Be Cause of Crash

Today, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police released the collision reconstruction report detailing the July 19, 2013, crash at the Bay Bridge (US 50/301). The investigation concluded that the primary cause of the crash was distracted driving on the part of the commercial-vehicle driver.

\”Without a doubt, the MDTA\’s priority is the safety of its customers and employees. This crash demonstrates how critical it is that motorists devote their full attention to driving when operating motor vehicles,\” said MDTA Police Chief Colonel Michael Kundrat. \”A primary reason for crashes on the Bay Bridge is from tailgating. Maintaining a proper following distance is one of the simplest things drivers can do to stay safe and keep other motorists safe.\”
