Police Investigating Homicide in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY (June 28,2013) A Ventnor man was fatally stabbed in Atlantic City late last night, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

At approximately 11:30pm, Atlantic City Police responded to a 911 call in regards to a male collapsed in the street at the intersection of Texas and Pacific Avenues. Upon arrival, police discovered Oscar O. Mendez, 28, lying in the street.

In trying to determine the victim’s condition, police discovered that he had been stabbed.

The victim was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Black Conservatives Discuss \”Star Witness\” Testimony as Zimmerman Trial Progresses

 Washington, DC (June 28,2013)- In the trial of George Zimmerman, the so-called \”star witness\” for the prosecution, Rachel Jeantel, ended two days of testimony. 


Members of the Project 21 black leadership network are commenting.

Jeantel, a friend of Martin since elementary school, spent several hours on the phone and texted with Martin on the day of this death, including during the moments before the altercation with Zimmerman that ended in Martin\’s death.

Age 73. Of Cherry Hill. Formerly of Lindenwold

 

On June 23, 2013. Age 73. Of Cherry Hill. Formerly of Lindenwold. In the loving care of his \"Images-3\" children: Corinne M. Maro and Carlo and his wife Tami Maro.Cherished grandfather of Dominique Speca, Jonah P. Maro and Dante S. Speca. 

 

Rodger was born in Camden City and raised at 4th and Chestnut Streets in Camden. He was a former parishioner of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Parish in South Camden. He was a graduate of Camden Catholic High School in Camden City. He was a longtime resident of Cherry Hill and Lindenwold.

 

Rodger had a lifetime passion for music and enjoyed teaching music. Rodger was the music director for over 15 years at the Episcopal Church of Saint John The Evangelist in Chews Landing (Gloucester Township). He was loved by the members and even had \”Team Rodger\” who cared for him and helped him through his illness. Rodger started playing the organ at Saint Mary’s R.C. Church in Gloucester City in the mid 1980’s and played each Sunday Mass at 7:30 am, weddings and funerals for the church until four months ago. He was the former organist at Assumption R.C. Church Atco (Christ The Redeemer Parish) for over 20 years. His love of music especially the piano and organ was evident in his life and will be remembered by many who learned from him.

 

Relatives, friends and his peers in music are kindly invited to attend a reception in his memory on Sunday, July 21 from 12 Noon to 1:30 pm at The Episcopal Church of Saint John The Evangelist: 1720 Old Black Horse Pike Chews Landing (Gloucester Township). Funeral Service 1:30 pm in the church. Cremation and Inurnment private at the request of his children.

Pennsylvania AG Take Action to Protect Consumers Against \’Cramming\’

HARRISBURG – Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane took action this week to protect consumers who have been getting ripped off on their cell phone bills. She joined with other attorneys general in sending a letter to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), warning about a practice known as \”mobile cramming.\”

Mobile cramming refers to the placing of unauthorized third-party charges on mobile phone bills. Millions of dollars are taken from people in this way, often without their ever knowing it.
