(June 28, 2013)–Officers of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office fugitive unit this week arrested five men and one woman who had outstanding warrants involving charges for burglary, assaulting a law enforcement officer, theft and narcotics possession.

Taken into custody 6/25 was Erving D. Davis (10/18/69), of National Park, at his residence, on a bench warrant for failing to appear at a pre-arraignment conference on a narcotics possession charge.

JUNE 28 2013–Lawrence Aberle 3rd (DOB 9/25/86), formerly of the Campus Crossing Apartments in Glassboro NJ, has pleaded guilty to charges of risking widespread damage and receiving stolen property in connection with a 6/24/10 fire in his unit and discovery of a stolen laptop computer in his possession on 3/22/10.

Under pleas negotiated with Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutors Margaret Cipparrone and Bryant Flowers, Aberle would be sentenced to 18 months in state prison, consecutive to a four-year state prison sentence he is currently serving on a violation of probation. Accepting the pleas Thursday, (6/28), Superior Court Judge Walter L. Marshall Jr. set sentencing for 8/19.

In the fire, an investigation determined a stovetop in the kitchen of Aberle’s apartment was the origin and that residue of potassium nitrate, a smoke bomb ingredient, was found there. Residents of 13 apartments in the building were evacuated.

Rodger was born in Camden City and raised at 4th and Chestnut Streets in Camden. He was a former parishioner of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Parish in South Camden. He was a graduate of Camden Catholic High School in Camden City. He was a longtime resident of Cherry Hill and Lindenwold.

Rodger had a lifetime passion for music and enjoyed teaching music. Rodger was the music director for over 15 years at the Episcopal Church of Saint John The Evangelist in Chews Landing (Gloucester Township). He was loved by the members and even had \”Team Rodger\” who cared for him and helped him through his illness. Rodger started playing the organ at Saint Mary’s R.C. Church in Gloucester City in the mid 1980’s and played each Sunday Mass at 7:30 am, weddings and funerals for the church until four months ago. He was the former organist at Assumption R.C. Church Atco (Christ The Redeemer Parish) for over 20 years. His love of music especially the piano and organ was evident in his life and will be remembered by many who learned from him.

Relatives, friends and his peers in music are kindly invited to attend a reception in his memory on Sunday, July 21 from 12 Noon to 1:30 pm at The Episcopal Church of Saint John The Evangelist: 1720 Old Black Horse Pike Chews Landing (Gloucester Township). Funeral Service 1:30 pm in the church. Cremation and Inurnment private at the request of his children.

(June 28, 2013)–Following a hearing today, Superior Court Judge Walter L. Marshall Jr. found probable cause to hold Valerie G. Niessner (DOB 2/12/66), of Sewell NJ on all charges filed in connection with the murder of 54-year-old Joseph McConnell in his Franklinville NJ home, where his body was found on 3/31/13.

Niessner and three codefendants remain jailed in default of bail on charges of murder, robbery, criminal restraint, aggravated assault and burglary. Neissner’s bail is $1 million.

 Superior Court Judge Walter L. Marshall Jr. said Crawford will be ineligible for parole for the first 3 1//2 years of his prison term. In sentencing, the judge cited Crawford’s criminal record which includes several narcotics and weapons convictions dating to 1994 and two attempted murder convictions, the most recent in Bridgeton in 2000 resulting in a 15-year prison sentence with a 6-year parole ineligibility.

Crawford was arrested following the controlled purchase of 7.6 ounces of marijuana and Oxycodone pills in Deptford Township NJ on 6/3/11. Following negotiations with Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Alec Gutierrez, he pleaded guilty to the distribution charge 1/14/13.
