Historic $50 Million Transformational Gift Supports a World-Class Outpatient Facility for Children and Families

\"BuergerBuerger Center for Advanced Pediatric CarePHILADELPHIA PA (June 25, 2013)The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia today announced the largest charitable donation in its history: a landmark $50 million gift from the Buerger family toward the construction of a new state-of-the-art outpatient facility. Currently under construction on the Hospital’s Main Campus in West Philadelphia, the building will be named the Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care.

This is not only the largest gift in the Hospital’s history, but also one of the largest naming gifts for a building in Philadelphia. The family gift, made by Alan and Constance Buerger, Reid and Krista Buerger, and Grant Buerger, marks a milestone in the Hospital’s $100 million capital campaign to fund the new outpatient facility.

\”We are extremely grateful to the Buerger family for this transformational gift, which will ensure that The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia continues to provide the highest level of pediatric care available to children and families in Philadelphia and around the world,\” said Mortimer J. At This Time Authorities Unable to ID Body

 

Work Ongoing to Identify Deceased Woman

 Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk and Gloucester Township Police Chief Harry Earle are not going to be able to confirm at the current time the identity of the woman found deceased in woods off Route 42 Monday.

 Due to the condition of the remains The Medical Examiner’s office is using dental records to identify the woman. As soon as the person is identified and her family is notified we will release her identity, along with the conclusions of an autopsy.

In striking down Sec. 3 of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in United States v. Windsor, the Court leaves intact – at least for now — state constitutional definitions of marriage as an institution restricted to one man and one woman. As Justice Samuel Alito points out in his dissent, no federal \”right\” to same-sex marriage exists. The Constitution simply does not establish one.

Police search for Millburn robber captured by camera in home invasion | NJ.com

Authorities are searching for a man who was caught on camera during a home invasion in Millburn, where police said the owner was assaulted.

Investigators, who released snapshots from the home\’s surveillance footage, said they are looking for a bearded man who forced his way into a Cypress Street home around 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The man took an undetermined amount of jewelry, according to a Millburn Police Department press release.

After the home invasion, the owner was taken to an area hospital where she was treated for injuries to her face and legs, the release said.

Authorities said more information about the robbery will be released in the \”near future.\”

Law Enforcement Dogs Graduate Academy


Galloway, N.J. – Your local schools aren’t the only ones graduating their students this week. Today two classes of police dog and handler teams from 13 different agencies graduated from the New Jersey State Police Canine Academy in a ceremony at Stockton State College. The extensive training programs prepared them for either patrol duties or tracking assignments, with 22 teams one school and two teams completing both schools. Today’s commencement was highlighted by graduating dogs receiving their badges and a number of retired dogs with their handlers receiving recognition for a job well done.
