LaCrosse, WI … A pair of senior track and field stars from The College of New Jersey registered top 15 finishes at the 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Senior Steven D’Aiutolo (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) placed ninth overall in the triple jump event with a leap of 14.67 meters (48’-1.75\”). Classmate Andy Gallagher (New Foundland, NJ/Milford) finished 13th nationally in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He completed the event in 9:30.37.

LaCrosse, WI … Junior Brigit Roemer (Ewing, NJ/Ewing), a student-athlete for The College of New Jersey women’s track and field program, placed 17th overall in the high jump event at the 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships held in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Volume XVIII No. 21: May 24, 2013 —This week’s Wastebasket is part two of two. Last week, we analyzed the \”Rear View Farm Bill\” being considered in the U.S. Senate. This week, we dive into the federal crop insurance program to show how taxpayer dollars can be saved.

Crop insurance – the most expensive taxpayer support in Washington’s bloated agriculture policy – was placed in the hot seat this week. As the Senate began to consider a new trillion dollar farm bill, amendments from lawmakers across the political spectrum sprang up. Whether they represented states with an abundance of corn or coal, crop insurance was a popular focus.

\”IRS officials have, of course, confessed that they inappropriately targeted conservative groups – – especially those with \’tea party\’ or \’patriot\’ in their names — for extra scrutiny when they sought non-profit status. Allegations of abuse or harassment have since broadened to include groups conducting grassroots projects to \’make America a better place to live,\’ to promote classes about the U.S. Constitution or to raise support for Israel.

Not a day goes by when I don’t think about the friends I’ve lost. I think about the young 20-somethings I knew from Vietnam who made the supreme sacrifice serving our nation. I think about the heroes from other eras – the Great Wars, Korea, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan – who gave their lives so all of us could enjoy our freedoms.
