Ewing, NJ … Senior Michael Murphy (Staten Island, NY/Staten Island Tech), an outfield for The College of New Jersey Baseball team, was named to the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) Division II/III First Team for the third consecutive year.

Classmate Scott Kelly (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-North) was named to the NJCBA Third Team for the second straight year after being a first team honoree in 2011. The teams are voted on by the 2013 organization’s 17 college division member coaches.

The Annual Joe Hartman Diamond Classic Set for Saturday, May 18th, Game Schedule Released

Here are the pairings for the 40th Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic.

First-round games are scheduled for Saturday. Second-round games are Saturday, May 18. The semifinals and final are slated for Sunday, May 19. The championship will be at Eastern High School.

The selection committee consisted of a panel of sportswriters who cover South Jersey high school baseball. A consensus Top 20 was established to generate the six at-large berths.

On May 15, 2013. Age 92. (nee Myers). Of Gloucester City. 

 

Loving wife of the late Herbert Martin. Loving mother of Herbert A. Martin (Miyako), Florence Berardi (James), Peggy Jablonowski (John), Pat Lastinec (John) and Joyce Hatton (Mike). Dear sister of Elizabeth Settar. Predeceased by her brothers John and Frank Myers. Also survived by many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

 

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Monday morning from 9 to 11 AM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Funeral service 11 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Woodbury Memorial Park, West Deptford.

PHILADELPHIA – For the third consecutive year, graduate student Kevin McDonnell (Moorestown, N.J./Camden Catholic) will represent Saint Joseph\’s in the 10,000m at the 2013 NCAA Division I Track and Field East Regional Preliminary Round, hosted by North Carolina A&T State University from Thursday, May 23 through Saturday, May 25 in Greensboro, N.C. Joining McDonnell in his first collegiate regional appearance will be 3000m-steeplechase standout, sophomore Logan Mohn (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin).

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (May 16, 2013) – Junior Dan Allen (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) of the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team was named New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) First-Team All-State as a utility player and also Division II/III Fireman of the Year as a closer. Stevens finished the 2013 season with a 23-18 overall mark after its second straight trip to the ECAC Metro Championship.

Allen, an Empire 8 Conference First-Team selection, finished his junior campaign with six saves in nine appearances on the mound with a slender 0.73 earned-run average to earn the state’s top relief pitcher. He tossed 12.1 innings and struck out 14 hitters to go along with a 2-0 record.
