The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has released a new tool to help bolster the food industry’s defense measures against an act of intentional food contamination. The Food Defense Plan Builder is a comprehensive, easy-to-use software program designed to help owners and operators of food facilities—ranging from primary production and manufacturing to retail and transportation—develop customized plans to minimize the risk of intentional contamination at their individual food facilities.

SAINT JOSEPH\’S KYLE MULLEN NAMED PHILADELPHIA BIG 5 BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s senior righthander Kyle Mullen (Berwyn, Pa/St. Joseph’s Prep) has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Mullen tied the school record for wins in a season on Friday night while the Hawks set a new team record for wins with their 26th of the year.

Mullen allowed one run and scattered eight hits while striking out eight in SJU’s 3-2 win at Saint Louis on Friday. He improved to 8-3 on the year, tying the Saint Joseph’s record for pitching victories in a season held by John Butz (1965) and Jed Johnson (1995). The win also gave the Hawks their 26th of the season, eclipsing the previous record of 25 set in 1995 and matched in 2012.

Pennsylvania Blaze Claims Four Children, Two Adults | Firehouse

 

-Six people, including four children, died in a raging fire that consumed a home in Pottsville just before midnight Sunday.

Unofficial reports from the scene indicate the children\’s father and an aunt — the father\’s sister — died with the four children. Their mother may have possibly been the only survivor, according to witnesses at the scene.

Reports from the scene indicate the family recently moved to Pottsville from the state of Washington.

The Schuylkill County Communications Center said the fire was reported at 11:55 p.m Sunday.

Initial emergency radio dispatches said one adult and four children were trapped in the fire, and the house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters could not make entry into the home because of the extent of the fire, and onefirefighter may have been injured falling off a ladder, according to emergency radio dispatches.

The information from emergency radio dispatches and has not been confirmed by officials.

When firefighters first arrived, the back of the house was ablaze and the front of the house had flames shooting out the second-floor and attic windows.

Doctor Carl and Eileen Vitola Say Farewell to their Extended Family | cnbnews.net

(CNBNews.net)GLOUCESTER CITY NJ–Doctor Carl Vitola retired from his practice last week after 30 plus years of service to patients in the South Jersey area. Dr. Vitola will continue to serve as school physician for Gloucester City High School. His wife Eileen, who is suffering with ALS, worked in the doctor\’s office before she got sick. CNBNews reached out to the doctor and his wife for a comment.

Today, they released the following statement:

I met Carl at Gloucester City High School when I was 16, Carl was 18. I fell in \"093007_2352_TheBestandT1\" love with him immediately. He was kind beyond words, and handsome. I admired him and his family.

Carl went to college and my family and I moved away, but I never forgot Carl.

A few years later we moved back to Gloucester City and Carl and I fell in love. Carl went off to medical school in Kansas City,Missouri. In January of Carl\’s freshmen year of medical school, Carl and I married.We moved to our first apartment in Kansas City in July and began our journey together as husband and wife. And what a wonderful journey it has been.
