Mullen Ties Single-Season Record with Eighth Win; Yacabonis Notches 10th Save

ST. LOUIS – The Saint Joseph’s baseball set a new school record on Friday night, winning its 26th game of the season as the Hawks held on for a 3-2 win over Saint Louis at the Billiken Sports Center. Senior Kyle Mullen (Berwyn, Pa./St. Joseph\’s Prep) also tied a school record with his eighth victory of the season.

The previous school record for team victories was 25, set in 1995 and matched last season. Mullen pulled into a tie with John Butz and Jed Johnson, who won eight games in 1965 and 1995, respectively.

Rutgers Rivera repeats on Academic All-District 2 First Team

CAMDEN, N.J. (May 8, 2013) – Rutgers University-Camden senior centerfielderAlbert Rivera (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional) has been named to the Capital One Baseball Academic All-District 2 First Team for the second consecutive season.

Rivera, a four-year letterman with the Scarlet Raptors who collected his 100th career hit in Rutgers-Camden’s ECAC Div. III Metro tournament win on Wednesday, owns a 3.82 GPA as a Finance major with a minor in Statistics.

The Academic All-American teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), are released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One became the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All-America teams programs in 2011.

Nine from Baseball Named Empire 8 All-Conference

 

 

 

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (May 10, 2013) – The Empire 8 Conference released its post season baseball awards today and nine members of the Stevens Institute of Technology squad were recognized on the first- and second-teams. Stevens finished up its 2013 season with a 23-18 overall record and bowed out of the ECAC Metro Tournament on Wednesday afternoon against Rutgers-Camden University.

Three student-athletes landed on the first-team in junior Dan Allen (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.), sophomore Ryan Mannello (Staten Island, N.Y) and freshman Ryan Patterson (Staten Island, N.Y.).
