NJCU, Rodriguez edge Rutgers-Camden, 3-2

 

 

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (April 4, 2013) – New Jersey City University leftfielder Andrew Rivera (Edison, NJ/Edison) hit a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh and eventually scored the deciding run on a balk as the Gothic Knights outlasted Rutgers University-Camden, 3-2, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Thursday afternoon.

The Gothic Knights rode the stellar pitching of senior Wendell Rodriguez (Ponce, Puerto Rico/County Prep), who won the 13th game of his career to set a NJCU program record. Rodriguez (3-2) hurled a seven-hitter, allowing two earned runs and three walks. He struck out three.
