CATHOLIC LEAGUE: Cardinal Pell Should Sue for Libel

March 12, 2013

Bill Donohue comments on stories in Australian newspapers maintaining that Cardinal George Pell, Archbishop of Sydney, will not be named pope because of his tainted record of sexual abuse:

No cardinal should ever have to endure the vicious mudslinging campaign being conducted by an embittered radical ex-priest, dishonest reporters, discredited victims’ groups, and incompetent Catholic journalists. But this is exactly what Cardinal Pell has had to endure this week. Not without reason is he thinking about suing the culprits.

Another Double-Digit Strikeout Effort for Baseball Pitchers in 10-2 Win over CCNY

HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 13, 2013) – For the fourth time in six games this season, the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball pitching staff struck out double-digit batters in a 10-2 victory over the City College of New York on Wednesday afternoon. Although the game was played at Dobbelaar Field, Stevens was the away team in the box score since the contest was originally scheduled at CCNY.

Eight different Ducks toed the rubber and combined for 11 strikeouts in nine innings. Sophomore Peirce Marston (Silver Spring, Md.) led the way by punching out the side in the third inning to earn the victory. Juniors Craig Leopold (Edison, N.J.) and Mark Poinsett (Ocean Gate, N.J.), and freshman Jayson Yano (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) each fanned two CCNY hitters in an inning of relief. Freshmen Bridger Cohen (Chester, N.J.) and Robert Robbins (Tallahassee, Fla.) accounted for the other two strike outs for Stevens.
