A Great Dog Story

They told me the big black Lab’s name was Reggie, as I looked at him lying in his pen. The \"20130112-090921\" shelter was clean, no-kill, and the people really friendly. I’d only been in the area for six months, but everywhere I went in the small college town, people were welcoming and open. Everyone waves when you pass them on the street.

But something was still missing as I attempted to settle in to my new life here, and I thought a dog couldn’t hurt. Give me someone to talk to. And I had just seen Reggie’s advertisement on the local news. The shelter said they had received numerous calls right after, but they said the people who had come down to see him just didn’t look like \”Lab people,\” whatever that meant. They must’ve thought I did.

Rome, Italy, Mar 11, 2013 / 07:50 am (CNA/EWTN News).- \”It’s not journalists that vote in the conclave. It’s cardinals,\” Mexican Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera said on Sunday, after celebrating Mass at his titular church of San Francesco di Ripa Grande.

Cardinal Rivera’s words underscore that this conclave could deliver a surprise and the possibility that none of the cardinals mentioned as papabili will be the new Pope.

In fact, now more than ever, each cardinal has approximately the same odds of becoming Pope.

Americans for Prosperity: There is No Such Thing as a Free Lunch

 

There is no such thing as a free lunch. States believe that there is \”free\” federal money to vastly expand the broken entitlement system, Medicaid. I’m sure you’ve seen this government health insurance program for low-income individuals in the news, as governors around the country have been deciding whether they will take that supposedly \”free\” federal money.

Under the President’s health care law and last summer’s Supreme Court decisions, states must decide whether to expand their Medicaid system to include all individuals below 138% of the federal poverty level—approximately $30,000 for a family of four. Caring for the poor among us is so important, but this broken system is not the answer.

NRA Ad: Biden\’s New (Bad) Advice Still Not Advisable

As we reported last week (More (Bad) Advice from Biden), Vice-President Joe Biden has a knack for putting his foot in his mouth–repeatedly.

 

Biden\’s latest \”advice\” came in an interview with Field and Stream, in which Biden said to people wanting to protect their homes, \”…you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door.\”

His statement is, of course, irresponsible and completely absurd.
