Columbia, Md. – The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball Clubs, Inc, and Maroon PR, a national sports marketing and public relations agency, today announced a partnership that will include working together on a variety of expansion and branding plans for the League. Formed in 1997, The Atlantic League is considered the highest level of minor league baseball, with on-field play between Triple-A and the Major Leagues.

Vernona \” Nonie\”

On January 22, 2013 (nee Shute) of Deptford, NJ, age 63. She is the beloved wife of Joseph E. Shapley, loving mother of Colleen Gervasi (Joel), Joseph S. (Dawn), Kevin T. (Nicole), and Jeremy A. Shapley. She is the loving daughter of Vernona and the late George Shute and dear sister of George Shute III. Nonie is also the loving and devoted grandmother of Joseph B. Shapley, Eryn Gervasi, Jessica Shapley, Ryan Gervasi, Katelyn Shapley, Jacob Shapley, Nicholas Gervasi and Kamryn Shapley. 

 

 Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial with Committal on Saturday, 10:30 AM, at Christ Episcopal Church, 63 Delaware St., Woodbury, NJ. Ewing, NJ … Bobby Acosta, a full-time assistant coach and offensive coordinator for The College of New Jersey football team for the past five years, accepted the head coaching position at Widener University.

The Pride announced the hiring of Acosta on Tuesday, January 22. He will replace Isaac Collins, who stepped down to take the head coaching position at Division II Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pa. Acosta will bring his up-tempo style of offense to Chester, Pa after spending the last five seasons on the sidelines and coach’s booth with the Lions.

 IRVING, Texas, (January 23, 2012) – The National Football Foundation (NFF) and Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc., the nation\’s largest and oldest youth football organization, today announced a partnership to enhance the sport through a variety of initiatives and research projects that promote participation, health and safety, academic achievement, and the community involvement of the young athletes who play football.

 

 

The US Navy has received more than six million lines of software from Raytheon for the DDG 1000 Zumwalt-class destroyer programme, in support of preparations for ship activation and combat system testing.

The software delivery forms part of the Zumwalt\’s integrated mission system, theTotal Ship Computing Environment (TSCE).

Raytheon\’s TSCE consists of complete shipboard computing applications, including the combat management system; command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence elements, as well as ship machinery control systems and support systems.

When integrated with the sailor-centric human-computer interface, the TSCE significantly reduces crewing for the Zumwalt-class destroyers.

January 22, 2013 HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe today announced that the final bear harvest results from the state’s recently concluded seasons show that hunters harvested 3,632 bears, which ranks as the third highest in Pennsylvania history.

The record bear harvest was set in 2011, when hunters took 4,350 bears. In 2005, hunters harvested 4,162 bears, which was the second highest in history.

The final harvest tallies by season are: 13 in the new, early seasons in Wildlife Management Units 2B, 5B, 5C and 5D; 262 bears taken during the statewide, five-day archery bear season; 2,685 bears taken during the four-day bear season, which included a Saturday-opener; and 672 bears taken during the extended bear season held in various WMUs during all or portions of the first week of the deer season.

In the 2005 bear season, hunters harvested 4,164 bears, and stood as the record harvest until 2011.

Amid a jam-packed courtroom, the Borough of Bellmawr swore in two members of Council, a new Council President, along with appointing various Borough directors and officials, during its reorganization meeting.

Councilman Steve Sauter was sworn in first to another term by Borough Solicitor Bob Messick.

Newly-elected Councilman Steve Hagerty was then sworn in to his first term by Camden County Freeholder Ian Leonard (D-Camden).

Councilman Dave Duncan was then sworn in as Council President by NJ State Senator Donald Norcross (D-5).

Duncan will run for re-election in November 2013, along with Councilman Josh Tregear, both as incumbents.
