CHEER-Musician Dave Bakey, a graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School, Class \"Images-12\" of 2002 has joined Celtic Thunder, an Irish folk and rock group, who last year was named by Billboard Magazine the top World Music Artists of the Year. Dave previously toured Ireland with his band Tsunami Rising.

 

CHEER-Twenty-six wooden angles representing the 20 children and six adults killed on December 14 at the elementary school in Newton, Connecticut were erected in their honor at old Saint Mary’s Cemetery on Market Street, Gloucester City. Joe Carlino, owner of Gloucester Transmission Service, along with his employees, built and painted the angels. A fitting memorial and tribute to those who lost their lives in this horrifying tragedy. To those who made the memorial kudos for trying to make a difference.

Gloucester Catholic Remembers Victims and Families of Sandy Hook School

 

\"GCHSGLOUCESTER CITY NJ-Gloucester Catholic students prayed for peace on Friday, January 4, in a special prayer service to welcome in the New Year.

A special prayer was offered for the families of Sandy Hook School in Newtown, CT as the names of the teachers and students were read out and placed at the Nativity set during a period of silent prayer and reflection.

The students remembered the Sandy Hook community, as well as their own Gloucester Catholic family, to begin the new year of 2013.

OCEAN CITY TO HONOR DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. WITH TWO EVENTS

 

What\’s Happening in Ocean City

 

 

Ocean City was the first community in Cape May County to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The celebration was initiated a few years after his death by the late Rozelia Cobb, a beloved teacher at the Ocean City Intermediate School.

 

The tradition is carried forward today by former councilman, Rev. Gregory Johnson, who will present an inspirational reading of Dr. King\’s \”I Have a Dream Speech\” during a ceremony set for 1 p.m., Sat., Jan. 19, at the Bill and Nancy Hughes Performing Arts Center, Ocean City High School, 6th and Atlantic Ave.

Obama\’s Religious Liberty Proclamation | Religious Freedom Day 2013

January 17,2013-Did you know that yesterday was Religious Freedom Day in America? It didn’t get a lot of attention, since President Obama was busy signing executive orders, but he also put out a proclamation on religious freedom.

\”Because of the protections guaranteed by our Constitution, each of us has the right to practice our faith openly and as we choose,\” the President wrote. \”As we observe Religious Freedom Day, let us remember the legacy of faith and independence we have inherited, and let us honor it by forever upholding our right to exercise our beliefs free from prejudice or persecution.\”

That’s one heck of a proclamation from an Administration whose actions have attacked religious liberty for Americans.

The best-known example is Obamacare’s Health and Human Services (HHS) mandate that employers pay for contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs in their health care plans. This has caused business owners to face excruciating decisions between complying—and violating their consciences—or facing massive fines.

The sad fact is, under President Obama, Americans have been forced to fight for their religious liberty in the courts. More than 110 plaintiffs are fighting the HHS mandate, and that’s hardly the only religious liberty battle being waged.

The Supreme Court has already rebuked the Administration for its attacks on religious liberty—and it did so unanimously:
