Men’s Basketball Tabbed Third in Empire 8 Preseason Poll

 ROCHESTER, N.Y. (November 15, 2012) – Stevens Institute of Technology was picked to finish third in the Empire 8 Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll released Thursday morning. Hartwick College was the coaches’ pick to win the conference and Ithaca College was tabbed second.

 

In 2011-12, Hartwick won the regular-season title with Nazareth College finishing second in the standings. Stevens was third and Ithaca finished fourth. The bombers upended the top-seeded Hawks in the semis and went on to beat Naz in the final to earn the conference’s at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament.

Mount Ephraim Escapes Severe Damage From Hurricane Sandy

Sandy (a hurricane/nor’easter combo) hit the Jersey Shore October 29, but thankfully the Borough of Mount Ephraim escaped with very minimal damage.

After attending a meeting of emergency personnel the day before Sandy made landfall, Mayor Joseph Wolk said he knew the town was in good hands, and that whatever needed to get done would get done.

The Mayor said that the Police Department, Fire Department, Public Works Department, MEPRI and the Office of Emergency Management did an excellent job organizing before the storm.
