\’Within 24 Hours\’: When U.S. Intel in Libya Told Washington 9/11/12 Was Terror Attack | CNSNews.com

BILLS POINT OF VIEW: When Will We Learn…

Schieffer challenged Graham to explain where he go the information to challenge the credibility of the administration\’s statements about what happened in Libya.

\”Where did you get this information that led you to this conclusion?\” asked Schieffer. \”Did you talk to officials there? Did you talk to people in the CIA? Did you talk to people in the administration? How are you so convinced of what you have just stated?\”

Graham said that the U.S. intelligence commmunity in Libya had told both him and Sen. Bob Corker (R.-Tenn.) that they had informed Washington within 24 hours that the attack in was a terrorist attack.

\”The intelligence community on the ground in Libya has told Senators Corker and myself that within 24 hours, they communicated up to Washington that this was a terrorist attack,\” said Graham. \”The president of Libya on the same date said it was a terrorist attack. The video of the compound shows that there was nobody at the Benghazi consulate. There was never a group to riot. And the evidence is overwhelming, and the idea that it was spawned by a video and a riot would hold the administration blameless. They said it was a copycat of Cairo. It wasn`t a copycat, it was a sustained attack that lasted for six or eight hours using heavy weapons, which undercut the idea that al Qaeda has been dismantled and on the run. And it certainly undercuts the idea that our policy choices in Libya have not going after the militia, not helping the Libyans train a national army were good choices.

MEDISCARE MENENDEZ

Joe Kryillos Press release

Trenton, October 14… Senator Menendez’ claim in the ABC Debate that he didn’t cut $716 billion from Medicare to pay for the Affordable Care Act is false. But, it’s not the first time Senator Menendez has voted to cut Medicare. In fact, every time Senator Menendez could vote to strengthen Medicare he didn\’t. Senator Menendez weakened it. We deserve better.

NICOLE GELINAS No Laughing Matter

Joe Biden confirmed Obama’s anti-market tendencies.

12 October 2012

Much of the commentary after Thursday’s veepstakes debate has focused on Vice President Joe Biden’s laughter. But during the spirited sit-down battle, Biden said deadly serious things about the economy, each of which deserves some attention. On housing, equity markets, and Big Finance, U.S. Representative Paul Ryan, running on the GOP ticket, could have used Biden’s seemingly offhand comments to remind the public that the Obama administration is indifferent, at best, to free-market solutions to our economic woes. Mitt Romney shouldn’t let any similar chances go to waste at next week’s town hall debate.

Former US Senator Arlen Specter dies at 82 | Fox News

\"PHILADELPHIAPHILADELPHIA – MAY 18: Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) (L) concedes defeat at a primary night gathering of supporters and staff with his wife Joan Specter May 18, 2009 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. HARRISBURG, Pa. – Former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, the outspoken Pennsylvania centrist whose switch from Republican to Democrat ended a 30-year career in which he played a pivotal role in several Supreme Court nominations, died Sunday. He was 82.

Specter, who announced in late August that he was battling cancer, died at his home in Philadelphia from complications of non-Hodgkins lymphoma, said his son Shanin. Over the years, Arlen Specter had fought two previous bouts with Hodgkin\’s disease, overcome a brain tumor and survived cardiac arrest following bypass surgery.

Specter rose to prominence in the 1960s as an aggressive Philadelphia prosecutor and as an assistant counsel to the Warren Commission, developing the single-bullet theory that posited just one bullet struck both President Kennedy and Texas Gov. John Connally — an assumption critical to the argument that presidential assassin Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. The theory remains controversial and was the focus of Oliver Stone\’s 1991 movie \”JFK.\”

In 1987, Specter helped thwart the Supreme Court nomination of former federal appeals Judge Robert H. Bork — earning him conservative enemies who still bitterly refer to such rejections as being \”borked.\”

But four years later, Specter was criticized by liberals for his tough questioning of Anita Hill at Clarence Thomas\’ Supreme Court nomination hearings and for accusing her of committing \”flat-out perjury.\” The nationally televised interrogation incensed women\’s groups and nearly cost him his seat in 1992.

Specter, who had battled cancer, was Pennsylvania\’s longest-serving senator when Democrats picked then-U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak over him in the 2010 primary, despite Specter\’s endorsements by President Barack Obama and other Democratic leaders. Sestak lost Specter\’s seat to conservative Republican Rep. Pat Toomey by 2 percentage points.

A political moderate, Specter was swept into the Senate in the Reagan landslide of 1980.
