TCNJ Student Athletes Honored

Ewing, NJ… A half-dozen student-athletes from The College of New Jersey received weekly citations by the New Jersey Athletic Conference for their performances during the week ending September 16, 2012.

The women’s tennis team swept their awards as senior Karisse Bendijo (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township) was named NJAC Player of the Week, while Jasmine Muniz-Cadorette (Union, NJ/Union) claimed Rookie of the Week honors. Both athletes earned honors for the second time this season. Bendijo and Muniz-Cadorette were both 8-0 on the week and led the Lions to their 30th consecutive conference title.

Sophomore Erin Healy (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) was named NJAC Offensive Player of the Week in field hockey. She tallied goals in all three victories last week for the top-ranked Lions. Overall, she rattled the back of the cage four times and assisted on two more goals as TCNJ moved to 5-0.

Defender Christina Roach (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) helped another undefeated team on campus to a pair of shutout victories and was named NJAC Rookie of the Week. Roach contributed to a 3-0 win over FDU-Florham and a 3-0 triumph over conference opponent Ramapo College. The Lions surrendered a total of three shots in the two games combined.

Menendez Accepts Debates Under Mounting Pressure from Kyrillos Campaign

Middletown, September 18… Since early summer, the Kyrillos campaign has called on Senator Menendez to publicly defend his failed 20-year record in Washington. After months of delay and under increasing pressure from the Kyrillos campaign, Senator Menendez finally agreed today to three debates. But true to form, Senator Menendez has given the people of New Jersey less – two less debates than he agreed to in 2006. Back then Menendez even branded his opponent a coward for not wanting to debate. Guess it takes one to know one.

In contrast, Senator Kyrillos has accepted every debate invitation because he knows that New Jerseyans deserve to hear directly from the candidates in order to make an informed decision.

\”It is clear that without the pressure from the Kyrillos campaign, Senator Menendez would not have accepted any debates,\”said Kyrillos Campaign Manager Chapin Fay. \”And why would he? How do you defend a failed economic record of high unemployment, high debt, and continually rising costs of goods and services? In 2006, Senator Menendez was eager to debate, accepting invitations as early as June. Now that ‘Belt-way Bob’ has record of economic failure following him around, he doesn’t want to talk. Senator Kyrillos stands ready to debate Senator Menendez and force him to defend his failed record as a United States Senator and has thus accepted ALL invitations to debate.\”
