LOCAL MAN, ARTHUR CARMICHAEL TO BE PRESENTED WITH CONGRESSIONAL GOLD MEDAL

Cherry Hill Municipal Bldg, Room 208, Mercer St, Cherry Hill, NJ

Please join us in honoring Montford Point Marine, Arthur Carmichael, when he receives the Congressional Gold Medal for his historic role as one of the original Montford Point Marines.

This is the highest civilian honor for one of the trailblazing African American recruits that trained in a segregated facility at Camp Lejuene, NC between 1942-1949.

Powering through prejudice and with courage and determination, Arthur Carmichael and the other Montford Point Marines served our country with pride and unbridled patriotism.

On June 27, 2012, the Montford Point Marines were guests of honor at a parade hosted by the Commandant of the Marine Corps at the Washington Marine Barracks and presented with Congressional Gold Medals. Of the 19,000 Montford Point Marines, only 430 are still alive and around 370 of these men attended the Congressional Gold Medal ceremony in Washington. The ones that could not make it to the Ceremony are having their Medals brought to them.

Help us honor this LEGEND OF THE CORPS.

** If anyone would like to go over to the Ceremony with the Legion, meet at American Legion Post 372, 1532 Martin Ave.,. Cherry Hill, NJ at 12:15pm. We will leave for the Municipal Bldg at 12:40 – any questions, email [email protected] or call 856-495-7270 **
