Cuomo And Christie Request Financial Support From The U.S. National Park Service

 

New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie today requested that the U.S. National Parks Service provide financial support and technical assistance to the September 11th Memorial and Museum that would ensure long term stability by helping resolve the current and future financial issues, while also preserving the solemn site for all Americans to commemorate the tragic events of 9/11.

Posted on June 15, 2012U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was again on the proverbial hot seat this week as investigations into the infamous \”Fast and Furious\” gun-walking scandal continue.

While a standoff in the investigation over providing subpoenaed information drags on, earlier this week, Holder suggested that he was willing to make \”compromises.\” In response, on Wednesday House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, (R-Calif.) opened the door to negotiating with Holder, asking the AG to make the committee an offer, so that he might potentially avoid a contempt of Congress vote that is scheduled for next Wednesday, June 20.

Training Center Cape May firefighter named service’s best

 

CAPE MAY, N.J. – A local Coast Guardsman has been selected as the Coast Guard’s Firefighter of the Year for his service aboard Training Center Cape May and in the surrounding community. 

 Petty Officer Michael Filippone, 23, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was selected from the service’s more than 800 damage controlmen. Filippone responded to more than 400 calls for emergency services in 2011 aboard Training Center Cape May, Coast Guard family housing and in nearby municipalities.
