Florence baseball heating up at the right time | NJ.com

FLORENCE — They’ve shown flashes of brilliance throughout an injury-plagued season, which explains the decidedly non-flashy win-loss record that the Florence High School baseball team takes into today’s state Group I semifinal.

Florence (14-10) will meet a familiar foe — Audubon (22-6) — at 4 p.m. at The College of New Jersey.

The Flashes, who have won eight of their last 11 games, including three consecutive victories on the way to the Central Jersey crown, lost a 6-5 game to the Green Wave last season.

\”They have a lot of kids back from last year,\” said Florence pitcher/third baseman Greg Perri, referring to the three-time South Jersey I champion. \”We know they’re a good team, very talented. They knocked us out in the same round last year by one run.
