Runnemede, NJ – Five students from Saint Teresa Regional School received awards from representatives of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians-Camden County Division One (LAOH) for achieving the top five awards in the 2011-2012 LAOH Irish History Writing Contest. The students wrote essays about the story of Annie Moore and Irish Immigration to America. Each year five winners at the local level are awarded; this year, St. Teresa Regional School students won all 5 awards. The representatives from the LAOH visited the school and presented the certificates and awards to the students. Their winning essays have been submitted to the state level of this contest.

On February 27^th, 2012 Gloucester Twp. Police Chief Harry Earle introduced residents, gathered at the bi-monthly meeting of the Township Council, to their two newest Police Officers, Jeremie McCall and Alexander Maldonado. They were both previously employed by the Trenton, NJ police department.

(March 3, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s basketball team’s 2011-12 season came to a close with a 75-43 loss to the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in the semifinals of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Metro Tournament Championship. Senior Jillian Barrett (Philadelphia, Pa.) ended her career with her team-leading 13th double-double of the season (11 points/14 rebounds) and sophomore Avis Benjamin (Queens, N.Y.) led the Ducks with 18 points.

South Jersey Non-Public A. Ryan Schoppy scored 20 points in keying Gloucester Catholic\’s second-half surge, but it was not enough to keep the 10th-seeded Rams from falling, 55-44, at No. 2 seed Notre Dame in a quarterfinal.

Notre Dame will host No. 3 seed Paul VI in a semifinal on Monday.

The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife has announced the Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center has temporarily closed the Center\’s Exhibit Hall for renovation and the installation of new exhibits.
