LETTERS: Cedar Grove Cemetery Would Welcome Financial Help

SUPPORT CEDAR GROVE CEMETERY

As my husband and I celebrated our anniversary this year, I asked that we not exchange gifts. Well, he surprised my with a check to Cedar Grove Cemetery in my father’s honor. That gift really touched my heart, and I cannot thank him enough for thinking of how much that would mean to me.

More importantly, when we went to Mr. Emery Bittmann’s house to present him with the check, his reaction tugged at my heart even more. He could not have thanked us enough.

Mr. Bittmann has been caretaker of the cemetery for 17 years and is working on a fixed budget, and the cemetery does not have huge amounts of money to help with operations.

UPDATE-Over a 100 Cats Removed from Gloucester City Home -cnbnews.net

\"P1060681\"

original post: August 15 (19:45)

modified: August 18 (13:00)

(cnbnews.net)UPDATE-Nancy Welsh, Gloucester City Animal Control Officer, explained on Wednesday, August 17, why no one in the press was contacted by the agencies involved with the removal of the 100 plus cats from a home on Railroad Avenue.

Welsh said, \”Animal Planet produces a show about hoarding pets such as cats. They do it in a way to protect the privacy of the individual. When the show is finally televised it will be done as though this could have happened in ‘Any Where USA’. Gloucester City will not be mentioned. All the people that volunteered to help, and the agencies involved all signed papers that this would be kept private. \”

Continuing she said, \”The cats were taken to shelters in the state of New Jersey. Some rescue groups traveled two hours to get here. They will be put up for adoption. That is not say that someone from out of state can’t adopt one of the cats.

\”The SPCA was not involved in the rescue of these animals, even though the truck in the photo had SPCA Police written on it. The truck was driven by people from the Humane Society who purchased the vehicle from the SPCA Police.\”

For the record it was the Audubon animal rescue group Joa\’s ARC that contacted Animal Planet. That group also coordinated the rescue with the other organizations.

President Obama\’s failed Midwest bus trip – NYPOST.com

But wait — the president has a plan to create jobs and deal with the debt, the White House declares. Finally, in the 32nd month of his presidency, he\’s going to show his cards.

Never mind. He has a plan, but will release it next month, the 33rd of his presidency. No \”fierce urgency of now\” there.

First, he\’s retreating to another vacation on Martha\’s Vineyard. No doubt he\’ll gather his kitchen Cabinet to conjure more ways to separate Americans from their money and each other.

His is a fall from grace that hasn\’t hit bottom. With 40 percent of the public still approving of his performance, it\’ll probably take a second recession for truth to dawn on the diehards.

We can shout at each other over whether he\’s actually up to the job, but not about whether he\’s willing to make the ideological sacrifices necessary to do it successfully. He is so determined to transform the nation into his own ideal that he\’s still pushing the same class-warfare nonsense he did three years ago, though now his record makes his aim more obvious.

Although 25 million Americans — 25 million! — are in want of a full-time job, our president is stuck in political navel gazing. He has a pronounced fetish for self-reverence and, according to many eyewitness accounts, regards himself as not just the smartest man in every room, but also the only moral one.

Everyone else is compromised and limited, while only he is pure and omniscient. Or so he genuinely seems to believe.
