The odds of another recession have climbed during the past six months, according to five of nine economists on the Business Cycle Dating Committee of the National Bureau of Economic Research, an academic panel that dates recessions.

Bank of America’s bond-insurance prices last week surged to a rate of $342,040 a year for coverage on $10 million of debt, above where Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. (LEHMQ)’s bond insurance was priced at the start of the week before the firm collapsed. Citigroup’s shares are trading below the split-adjusted price of $28 that they hit on the day the bank’s Fed loans peaked in January 2009. The U.S. unemployment rate was at 9.1 percent in July, compared with 4.7 percent in November 2007, before the recession began.

Homeowners are more than 30 days past due on their mortgage payments on 4.38 million properties in the U.S., and 2.16 million more properties are in foreclosure, representing a combined $1.27 trillion of unpaid principal, estimates Jacksonville, Florida-based Lender Processing Services Inc.

Some public agencies continue to charge illegally high copying fees, whether it be the now repealed 75 cents per page, or an illegally high \”special service charge,\” or a flat fee for an audio or video recording instead of actual cost. If you think you\’re being charged an illegally high fee, but don\’t have the time to challenge the fee in Court or the GRC because you need the document right away, you do not waive your right to challenge the fee and receive a refund if you pay the fee. The notion that you\’re waiving your right by paying the fee is called the \”volunteer rule,\” and that rule is not applicable to OPRA. The case that made this finding is called Smith v. Hudson County Register, 411 N.J. Super. 538, 551-54 (Appellate Division 2010).

Chuck Hammond, in his eighth year as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Facilities and Men’s Basketball Head Coach, has been announced as the school’s new Director of Athletics.

Morgan came to Goldey-Beacom College in 1999 and guided the athletic department through a transformation from a four-team NAIA school into a 10-team NCAA Division II institution. During his time at GBC, the athletic department saw unprecedented success while all ten teams transitioned into the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. Among the many athletic accomplishments in his tenure are seven CACC championships and thirteen NCAA Regional Tournament appearances.

While the poor and middle class fight for us in Afghanistan, and while most Americans struggle to make ends meet, we mega-rich continue to get our extraordinary tax breaks. Some of us are investment managers who earn billions from our daily labors but are allowed to classify our income as \”carried interest,\” thereby getting a bargain 15 percent tax rate. Others own stock index futures for 10 minutes and have 60 percent of their gain taxed at 15 percent, as if they’d been long-term investors.

Quinton Township, Salem County, New Jersey – New Jersey State Police Detectives, working with the Salem County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety have arrested four local men in connection with a house that was purposely burned down. Patrick Foster, 46, David Sites, 32, Brent Sullivan, 29, and Gary Bell, 66, all of Quinton were all charged in connection with a December 21st fire that destroyed an unoccupied home. The house at 32 Beasley Neck Road is owned by Albert Bell, 93, who is Gary Bell’s father.

C Platoon High Rise Training

Before you can fight a high rise fire, you have to make it there first. That is the adage that Battalion Chief Stallfort is instilling in his firefighters on C Platoon. Over the past month the Engine and Ladder Companies have been arriving at 1900 Frontage Road, The Grand Apartments, for what is a simulated high rise fire on the 18th floor. The catch… the elevators are not usable and the firefighters must carry all of their equipment up the stairs with them. After adding up the added weight of a firefighter\’s protective gear, SCBA, hand tools and hose, the average firefighter was carrying at least an additional 100 lbs.

This has become a weekly exercise and times have continued to improve across the board as firefighters train on hoofing it to the top floors. Many companies practice daily in the surrounding buildings of their local.
