Roadway Projects Top July Bellmawr Council Meeting

Two upcoming roadway projects were top discussion items, at the July 28th Council Meeting in Bellmawr.

 

Mayor Frank Filipek stated the widening of Benigno Boulevard at the Black Horse Pike, along with work planned for West Browning Road (from Belmont Avenue to Lewis Avenue) were ongoing, but he did not want the two to conflict.

Daniel K Patton Jr., of Gloucester City; WW II Army veteran, Member of Local #322

On August 8, 2011. Age 93. Of Gloucester City. Loving and devoted husband of 64 years to \"R2\" Hazel M. (nee Nelson). Beloved father of Kathleen Blake (Stephen) of Upper Deerfield and Patricia Hause (Stephen) of Gloucester City. Cherished grandfather of Kelly, Adeline, Kristine, Sherry and Meghan. Dear great-grandfather of Alexandria, Imogen, Bill, Stephanie, Jessica, Anabell, Declan and Thomas. Daniel was born, raised and lived his entire life in Gloucester City. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Daniel was a extremely devoted 70 year member of Union Local # 322 Plumbers and Pipefitters and served on the Executive Board for 3 terms. He was a parishioner of Saint Mary’s R.C Church in Gloucester City and was a member of the Gloucester City Knights of Columbus Council # 674. Relatives, friends, Knights of Columbus and members of Local # 322 are kindly invited to attend his viewing on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth Street (at Brown Street) Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 Noon at Saint Mary’s R.C. Church: 426 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Interment with U.S. Army Military Honors in New Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr. TEACHERS CONTRACT SETTLED; Receive 8.7 Percent Increase over 3 Years

Gloucester City Board of Education (BOE) President Ed Hubbs said a contract agreement has been reached with the teachers that will cover the school years 2010-11, 2011-12, and 2012-13.

During last week’s meeting, Hubbs said the teacher contract negotiations had ended, and that this September will begin the second year of the contract.

For the three years listed above, the teacher’s will receive a 2.9 percent increase each year.

SISTER NORA HONORED

Sister Nora Foley received a proclamation on behalf on Gloucester City Mayor and Council during last week’s meeting.

Councilman Daniel Spencer presented the proclamation to Sister Nora, who has retired after serving City students at Cold Springs School and many pupils and parishioners of St. Mary’s parish.

\”We applaud you with heartfelt appreciation for your dedication,\” Spencer said. \”It is our desire to recognize certain distinguished citizens,\” he said.
