Brooklawn scored in each of its first four turns at the plate and added two more in the sixth for an 8-0 lead. Boyertown didn\’t get going until the seventh inning by that point it was too late. The final 9-5.

In the first inning John Brue a left-handed first baseman put Brooklawn on the score board with a home run. Brue, who also plays baseball at Gloucester Catholic High School, was a first-team All-South Jersey selection as a junior. He has committed to attend St. Joseph\’s on a baseball scholarship, according to Brooklawn/Gloucester Catholic coach Dennis Barth.

Brooklawn was to face Middletown, Delaware Saturday night, a team they defeated 6-5 on the opening day (Thursday) of the tournament.

In 2008, 16,000 New Jersey taxpayers earned $1 million or more. That’s more than in any year before or since 2001 with only one exception – the boom year 2006. In that year, 18,400 New Jersey taxpayers earned more than $1 million. In the following year, only 15,900 taxpayers earned more than $1 million but their average income was $3.5 million, the highest average in any year to date. The numbers tell many stories. Did 2,400 high income people leave New Jersey between 2006 and 2008? Or was their income simply subject to the vagaries of Wall Street and the economy?

Anecdotes abound: So-and-so has a house in New Jersey and one in Florida and decided to call Florida his residence to avoid paying any state income tax (Florida has none). No one knows how often this happens.

On August 4 2011, lifelong resident of Gloucester City, NJ, age 53 yrs. He is the beloved $\"Images-3\"$ husband of Dawn L (nee Harris) and Loving father of Kevin W. (Lauren) and the late Kasey Rebstock. Bill is the dear brother of Thomas (Rosemary), James (Doris), Theodore (Margaret), Ricky (Terry) Rebstock and Linda Rogers, and cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Bill was an avid Country Western music fan and was known widely for his karaoke singing. Bill also immensely enjoyed working with Charles and Ray.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet Sunday evening from 5:00 to 8:00pm and again Monday from 9:00 to 11:00am at the Highland Park Church of God, Market and Baynes Ave., Gloucester City. Funeral services will be held 11:00am at the Church. Interment to follow at Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill.

The Brookers (41-4), who advanced into tonight’s winners bracket final against $\"Regional-mid-atlantic\"$ Middletown, Del., bunched 10 basehits around a pair of hit-batsmen and three walks to get create the eight-run cushion. There were also three errors in that stretch, making exactly half of those runs unearned. Offensively, the Bears managed just one hit against Brooklawn starter Mike Shawaryn, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound right-hander who happens to be just 16 years of age. Shawaryn didn’t allow a hit until Schnell singled with one down in the third. He only permitted three when he left after throwing 105 pitches through five innings.

Brooklawn’s pitchers issued 10 walks. Brooklawn’s defense committed two errors.

Those two specific statistics alone usually add up to a Boyertown romp in the park. But through six innings Friday night, the Bears got just one baserunner on to start an inning and, despite all the walks and an improved offense later on, they would strand at least one runner in every inning, including two an incredible six times, and 15 overall.

TWO BOYS ATTACKED BY BEAR AT STOKES STATE FOREST

Two pre-teen boys sustained minor injuries when they were attacked by a bear at their campsite at Stokes State Forest Wednesday morning, according to state police.

A New Jersey Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife officer who arrived on scene shot the bear in the neck, but it is unclear if the bear was killed.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection\’s Division of Fish and Wildlife recently selected the state\’s 2011-2012 migratory bird hunting season regulations. Major changes for the upcoming season include the following:

The duration of the woodcock season was increased from 24 to 36 days.
The brant season will be closed during part of the duck season in all zones.

In 2011, the status of ducks and their habitats in mid-continent and eastern North America are sufficient to justify a liberal duck hunting season framework. In Atlantic Flyway states like New Jersey, this will be the 15th consecutive year with a 60-day duck season.
