Philadelphia, June 10, 2011 – Mayor Michael A. Nutter, State and City officials
attended the groundbreaking for a new station serving Engine Company 38 in the Tacony section of Philadelphia. Due to the construction of a new I-95 access ramp and interchange improvements at Cottman Avenue, the former station was demolished. The new 12,200 square foot facility will include amenities such as community room integrated within the fire station and a green roof. The fire station will be located in Tacony’s Disston Park.

\”Public safety is a critical function of city government. I appreciate that it was through the support of the community and dedicated public servants like Councilwoman Krajewski that we are now able to construct this station to continue to protect the safety Philadelphians,\” said Mayor Nutter.
