UPDATE Ken is now at home

(CNBNews.net) Ken MacAdams and his lady friend Patty Przywara were in an auto accident on Sunday around 5 pm. The couple were driving home from the shore when a vehicle ran a red light and broadsided their car. Patty was driving, Ken was sitting in the passenger seat. The accident occurred on Route 47 near Dennisville.

The Department of Labor (DoL) has announced it is funding 22 grants totaling more than $9 million to provide approximately 4,000 veterans with job training. The grants are being awarded under DoL\’s Veterans Workforce Investment Program. State and local workforce investment boards, local public agencies and non-profit organizations will receive the funding and will be given it for a second and third year, as long as they can demonstrate that their first-year funding was effective and adequately serving their geographic areas and population.

The Veterans Workforce Investment Program emphasizes training for veterans who are interested in \”green\” jobs that are currently available in the marketplace or expected to be soon. Such jobs include those related to energy efficiency and renewable energy, modern electric power development and clean vehicles. Grantees under this program coordinate their efforts with various local, state and federal social service providers.

After the South of South Neighborhood Association raised the needed funds for two BigBelly trash cans, the City\’s Streets Department installed the receptacles at 23rd and Christian streets and 18th and Catharine streets two months ago.

As pieces of paper and plastic bottles blow down the street with a gust of wind, it’s no wonder trash and litter have become two major neighborhood concerns. With an increase in recycling and the implementation of single streaming, improvements have been made, but more may be needed. 

When residents in the South of South Neighborhood Association catchment area, which spans the area from South Street to Washington Avenue and west of Broad Street, were surveyed last year, a vast percentage identified trash and litter as two challenges with about 70 percent requesting more trash and recycling receptacles, so

Bishop Joseph A. Galante has named Father Michael M. Romano as director of vocations for the Diocese of Camden, effective July 1.

Father Romao, 29, currently serves as parochial vicar, Incarnation, Mantua, and chaplain at Paul VI High School, Haddon Township. With his new appointment, he will continue at Paul VI. He will be in residence at St. Mary, Cherry Hill.

Father Romano was born in Marlton and attended the University of Scranton, Scranton, Pa., and the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome.

He was ordained June 23, 2007, in St. Teresa Church, Runnemede.

He served as parochial vicar at St. Joseph Parish, Sea Isle City, and is currently a member of the Committee for the Continuing Education and Spiritual Formation of Priests.

NJDEP DIVISION OF FISH AND WILDLIFE SURVEY RESULTS

NJDEP\’s Division of Fish & Wildlife\’s Bureau of Marine Fisheries biologists conduct several surveys each year to study the status of species populations in the Delaware Estuary. One of these surveys is the Delaware Bay Finfish Trawl Survey. 

The data collected in these surveys allow biologists to develop abundance estimates and length frequencies of estuarine dependent finfish. The data are necessary for predicting future fishery trends and harvest potential.
