\"Florida Dear residents of Bellmawr. My name is Mark Sharp, and I have registered to run for a seat on Borough Council during the General Election November 8.

I will be on the ballot as an Independent. To get on the ballot, I had to get at least 61 signatures from Bellmawr residents. Thanks to the residents who signed the petition while I was walking door-to-door meeting people this past March. I listened to many concerns – the primary one raised by many residents is high property taxes. The average property tax bill in Bellmawr is $4,755, according to http://www.state.nj for 2009 tax property information, and the average NJ Saver Rebate for a resident in Bellmawr was $884 for the same year.

Residents, if afforded the opportunity to serve on Town Council. I look forward to meeting with the residents of Bellmawr, and communicating openly with everyone and addressing immediately any concerns. My number one goal as a member of Council would be to ask at every opportunity what is being done to reduce property taxes?

I look forward to meeting as many residents as I can within the next few months. I will be handing out flyers door-to-door to assist in communicating my message to the residents and taxpayers of Bellmawr. Finally, if anything is going to change, new leadership, and a new way of thinking within local government, has to occur. I seek your support in this year’s fall election.

Four days before the date of this publication, a man stumbled out of the Pine \"20110609_cover-4\" Barrens and onto a South Jersey highway. He was parched, hungry, his face and clothes rendered an ashy gray by layers of dust and soot. Slouching under the weight of his pack, he made his way out onto the road, stuck out his arm, and wearily jabbed a single thumb into the air: the universal gesture — once upon a time, anyway — of the hitchhiker.

A truck appeared in the distance, grew nearer and passed. A car came, and passed. Then another, then another. With each, the man’s thumb jutted up and back down again.

Brooklawn Fire Co. Celebrates 100th Anniversary; Parade on Saturday, June 18 I cnbnews.net

\"Main (Editor’s note: The Brooklawn Fire Company will celebrate its 100th Anniversary with a parade Saturday, June 18, beginning at Broadway and Chestnut at 11 a.m. and finishing at the Wilson Avenue Fire Station, where there will be more festivities. This history of the Fire Company was written by its historian, John McKinney III.)


Back around the late 1800s, the area known as Center Township had some distinct areas that were being settled.

This area, which will later become known as Noreg Village, is still homesteads and farms. There are many visitors coming from Philadelphia across the ferries in Gloucester City and passing through on the dirt roads and small foot paths that lead to distant places such as Woodbury.

Roadway Improvements to Begin on Potter and Ellis in Haddonfield -cnbnews.net

The Camden County Department of Public Works will begin roadway and streetscape improvements at the intersection of Potter (CR 644) and Ellis (CR 561) Streets in Haddonfield on June 20, 2011. The project is expected to be completed by January 2012.

Motorists should be aware of this construction and choose an alternate route to avoid delays. This project will impact residents in both Haddonfield Borough and Cherry Hill Township due to its location at the border of the two municipalities.
