Alan graduated from Lincoln High School class of 1974 and received his B.S. in Political Science from Rutgers University in 1996. Alan was a well respected and well loved employee of UPS Logistics Custom – Brokerage in Philadelphia. He was a Past Master of Athelstan Lodge (1989) in Philadelphia and marched with Harrowgate String Band. Alan would never miss watching any sports on TV and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. He had a passion for history and politics, reading books and playing the saxophone.

But our priests should know. Practicing ecumenism does not mean we are to invite a Protestant preacher in to our church during a Sunday Mass and allow that preacher to presume that all Christian churches are equal. They are not. And no preacher should tell a Mass congregation otherwise with a Catholic priest sitting in attendance, condoning such comments.

 Now, I do not expect the Lutheran preacher to agree. He’s not at fault. He simply should not have been invited and allowed to speak heresy in St. Mary’s Church at the 11:30 Mass on Sunday, January 16.
