Memorial Service for Scott Bevan at Proprietors Park July 24th

Scott Bevan, 43, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2010. He was the loving husband and best friend of Deneen, devoted son of Bob and Janet Bevan, proud brother to Marnie Lengle (Pete), Gregg (Eleanor) and loving uncle to Eva, Parker, Phoebe and Sam.

Scott was raised and spent most of his life in Gloucester City, NJ. He was a graduate of Gloucester High School Class of 1984. He and Deneen lived in Cape May Court House for the past 6 years. Scott worked as a carpenter for Craig Otton Builders, Inc. He was a passionate and talented fisherman. Nephew, cousin, loyal friend, and owner of his \”sweet puppy\” Bella, Scott’s courageous battle with melanoma ended with his loved ones by his side. The seas are now calm as he leaves the dock on his final voyage.

A memorial service will be held at 6pm on Saturday, July 24th at Proprietor’s Park, located on King St. and Jersey Ave. in Gloucester City. In memory of Scott, donations may be sent to: Support for Scott Fund, P.O. Box 486, Stone Harbor, NJ 08247 or visit www.supportforscott.org

1. Pulled over by the police.

2. Making purchases on my department store credit card.

3. When I show up for a doctor\’s appointment.
4. When filling out a credit card or loan application.
5. When applying for or renewing a driver\’s license or passport.
6. When applying for any kind of insurance.
7. When filling out college applications.
8. When donating blood.
9. When obtaining certain prescription drugs.

10. When making some debit purchases, especially if I\’m out of state.

11. When collecting a boarding pass for airline or train travel.
I\’m sure there are more instances, but the point is that we citizens of the USA are required to prove who we are nearly every day!

Why should people in this country illegally, be exempt!!!!!

Why shouldn\’t we guard our borders as closely as every other country in the world does?

Opinion poll: Public sides with Arizona over US on new immigration law

Americans\’ support for Arizona’s tough new immigration law is unwavering, with the public unmoved by a legal challenge to the law filed last week by the US Department of Justice, finds a new poll released Monday by TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence (TIPP).

The US Department of Justice filed suit against the state of Arizona in federal court July 6, challenging the state\’s tough new immigration law requiring state and local police to ask ID of anyone they\’ve stopped and then suspect of being in the US illegally.

The most compelling figure from the poll is that 51 percent of Americans support Arizona\’s law as it stands, compared with 35 percent who support the US case against Arizona.

The Justice Department suit asserts that immigration enforcement is a federal prerogative and that Arizona\’s law usurps federal authority. The case is slated to be argued July 22 by a federal judge in Arizona. The law is scheduled to go into effect July 29.

The poll was conducted from July 6 to July 11, among 852 respondents with a margin of 3.4 percentage points.

Camden County Resident Graduates from Shortest Nursing Program in the Nation: ACE at Drexel University

Drexel University Honors 2010 Graduates from its 11-Month Accelerated Nursing Program

PHILADELPHIA – July 19, 2010 – It only took eleven months, but a local student has fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse. Alyssa Finn of Collingswood is a graduate of \"ACE Drexel University College of Nursing & Health Professions (CNHP) Accelerated Career Entry Program for Nurses (ACE). The College celebrated the students’ accomplishments recently with a pinning ceremony, marking the transition from student to professional nurse. The pinning ceremony is a 100-year-old tradition.
